Eridan grins, settling for holding his hand while they headed back. He got them tied on and close to the steps before he let Dave get up, climbing up after him. "C'mon. Cuddle time."

He was on Eridan so fast when they got to the boat, tugging him by his hand to the blanket pile, grabbing some pre-made sandwiches on his way there, and he plopped on top of him as he unwrapped one of them. Happy cuddle times as he satisfied his munchies.

He had to laugh, wrapping his arms around Dave and pressing his face to his neck as he laughed. The blanket pile was so comfortable, and he was content to just lie in it and cuddle forever.

He couldn't help but join him after a few seconds of trying to keep his cool, and took a bite out of it. "You want some?" He asked with a mouth full of bread, lettuce, and meat.

He shook his head, grabbing a pillow and putting it behind his head. "Nah I'm fine. And please don't talk with your mouth full. I love you dearly, but gross Dave."

He snorted, and covered his mouth a second later as he laughed. "It matches my personality pretty damn well."

He nuzzles his cheek for a few seconds, but eventually takes another bite. "You offend me."

"If I was insulted you wouldn't've just showered me in affection." He grinned, fins wiggling.

"Objection, my affection showers and my being insulted time can be scheduled individually or together. I'm as flexible as a a god damn ballerina." He kisses his cheek again though

He munched on his food, mostly quietly, and distributed kisses all over Eridan's face from time to time. This is Dave's idea of having a good time.

Eridan relaxed, tugging a few blankets closer and pretty quickly his eyes were half closed and he was almost asleep. He didn't even realise he was tired.

Dave would never dare say it out loud to anyone, much less to Eridan. He soon finished his two sandwiches, and looked over at Eridan, only to smile when he saw he was probably asleep. He then laid his head on his chest, ready to sleep too.

Eridan moved sluggishly to accommodate him, tugging blankets tighter around them and resting a hand on Dave's back. He couldn't be bothered to go take a sleeping pill, and he was curious to see how he'd go.

Dave constantly forgot that Eridan took pills, so he just figured he'd go to sleep like he should.

Dave quickly fell asleep.

Eridan was out like a light almost as quickly as Dave was, face relaxed and almost calm as he cuddled close to Dave.

Dave slept pretty well. He usually did when he slept with Eridan anyway. He was like his safe zone, except he wasn't a zone, he was a whole person. He didn't have dreams either, since he wasn't too warm, due to Eridan being naturally cold

Eridan dreamt. Eridan definitely dreamt. At the start it wasn't a malicious dream though. It was rather pleasant. He was lying on his back in the water, staring up at the night sky sort of like they did earlier.

And then it went downhill. The stars started disappearing, like a cloud was going over head, or like someone was slowly covering his sight with a black cloth.

And then the screaming started.

Dave was just quiet, didn't move around, didn't even think of stirring. He wouldn't be waken up unless Eridan started moving or speaking.

Eridan didn't move, but he did tense up, fingers tightening the grip they had on Dave. Because he hadn't taken the pills, he'd most likely be able to wake up properly from the dream. He was trying to wake up. Trying to do anything but it felt like someone had tied his limbs down and all he could hear was screaming. It made his fins hurt and finally his hands jerked in his sleep.
