He thought about that for a bit. "I don't know. I feel... Subdued? I don't feel aggressive anymore. Or like I want to obliterate any lowbloods or humans because I'm better than them. I never liked thinking like that, believe me but I did and it was how I thought I should. But I also don't feel like I'm how I'm supposed to be. Or that I'm good enough to call myself who I am."

He hums as he thinks about that for a moment as well. "Well, I think you can recognize you've bettered yourself in that aspect, but is there anything else you're hiding? Something you're holding yourself back from doing?"

"I don't know. I don't know even if I was. I don't feel like I'm me enough to know. Does that make sense?" He didn't think it made sense and pulled a face as he thought about it. "I know I keep myself from doing things I may have previously loved. I don't swim as much. I don't go outside as much anymore. I don't do things I previously would've loved to do because I think I don't deserve it, or I'm not good enough yet to allow myself it."

He definitely felt bad for hearing that. "That's kinda why I don't like getting presents either." He muttered. "I don't feel like I deserve them. Ever." Who would have guessed that having an abusive brother would have given him deep emotional scars right? "But we can work on that together."

He gave a small, somewhat depreciative laugh. "We're pretty fucked up huh." He kissed his hair, holding him close. "I want to feel like I've done something good for once. I want to feel like I'm not always being watched by those fucking assholes over my actions and reactions and comments and I just want to be good enough."

He shrugged once, but did hold on to Eridan's shirt loosely. "You are good enough. I don't know if you've been hiding something, or being someone who you aren't, but I know you at least a bit by now, and you're wonderful."

Eridan simply held him tighter, hiding his face in his hair and clinging. The glow of his bioluminescents had dimmed, and he didn't say a word in reply bar a kiss to his head and a murmured. "I love you."

He smiled, fins tilting up and flaring as he wiggled them at Dave. The wind had picked up in the time they were out there, and he nudged Dave to get up. "C'mon. We should head back before it gets too cold."

"Hmmmm, carry me?" It was a bit of a question, since he didn't want to push it, but he really liked being lazy. "Even better, let me sit on your shoulders."

"Dave it's not even far to the dinghy and if you're on my shoulders you'll get colder quicker. I'll carry you around on my shoulders tomorrow at the other island's beach." He was smiling though.

He takes the hand and kisses him on the cheek once he's stood up. Once they're back at the dinghy he drags it back to the water, the tide having started going out while they were there.

Eridan had to walk in the water to push the dinghy out, and yeah it was pretty cold, even for him. Usually he wasn't too bothered but now it was cold. Probably because he'd been warm for too long.

"Dave I just spent some time cuddling your ass on a cold beach. You can wait." He laughed, leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek before heading for Sabriel. He went slower than earlier, but only because he didn't want to hit any thing.

Dave was trying to keep a straight face, but fuck it, he can't even be straight. He ends up laughing, and pressing back against the kiss, patiently waiting until they were back.
