Sollux didn't look at Dave, knowing that he was far too vulnerable right now. Instead he just focused on Eridan's pale face, and realised it was a lot more familiar than it should be. He's seen him injured far too many times before, and the guilt that crashes over him at that is sudden and harsh.

Eridan swallows the pills obediently, clutching at Dave and trying to think around the stabbing pain.

Dave shoos Sollux away with his hand, not wanting to be around him in the least, and just hugs Eridan close. He'll thank him for getting them both out of the water when he's ready.

Sollux throws his hands up and sighs, moving to go lie in the front bunk. He'll come when he's called, or maybe he'll just come out in about half an hour, when Eridan will probably be asleep from pain and stress and help move him to his own bed.

He shook his head, eyes closed now as he tried to just ignore the pain. It wasn't that easy, but Dave's presence helped. "No. Just stay."

Staying was easy. Staying was definitely something he could do, and it required minimal effort. "Alright, just tell me if you want something though. Like move to the blanket pile." He settled then, nuzzling his hair protectively.

"Maybe later. It hurts to move." He said, just clinging to Dave for the moment and letting himself bask in the fact that Dave was alive, and that he fought a shark.

Eridan hopes he didn't kill it. That would just suck. Despite it having attacked him, and nearly attacking Dave, he didn't want to kill it.

He tugs Eridan to his lap, having him lean on him on the side that isn't all bitten, and holds him there. "I love you." He mutters at last, and just shuts up, letting him rest.

Eridan curled up, and when Sollux peeked out of the front bunk to check on them, he couldn't help but feel like he walked in on pale mates piling. He retreated back to the front bunk, and Eridan closed his eyes for now, one hand tangled in Dave's shirt to hold.

Dave ended up relaxing against Eridan, and eventually dozed off for a nap. What matters is that he's holding Eridan, and Eridan isn't too injured, right? Right.

When Sollux came out again a while later, looking for gummy bears, he caught sight of them on the couch. It didn't look too comfortable, and he rolled his eyes, gently lifting them up and moving them to Eridan's bunk. He could see the mess of blankets, and for a moment wondered just how much Dave loved Eridan. He dismissed that thought pretty quickly, setting them down and moving off to go find gummy bears.

Dave slept like a rock, all curled up with Eridan. He looked peaceful and relaxed now, like a toddler sleeping after having a hissy fit.

Eridan stirred a little when he was picked up, but didn't say anything, simply watched as Sollux left the room to go get his gummy bears and continue playing some dumb game on his phone.

Dave woke up like an hour later, feeling rested and warm, and looked down at Eridan. He nuzzled his hair, and sighed softly.

Eridan was still flat out asleep, his face exhausted and lined with pain. He didn't look like a troll who was having a good time right now.

Sollux was too busy trying to beat his highscores on bejewelled and eating gummy bears to care too much right now.

It was only an hour later that Eridan woke up, and that was due to the fact that he'd shifted and his hip had instantly started aching horribly in pain. He hissed, limbs tensing as he blinked blearily.

Why is his hip still hurting after taking those painkillers? Who really knows, but Dave is instantly worried. "Hey, Eridan, are you alright?" Because from his side it just looked like Eridan started hissing because of nothing.

Eridan whined softly, rolling onto his back and biting his lip in pain. "Stupid... I don't have the good painkillers. I only have the shitty ones that don't last long." He pressed his face to Dave's shoulder, holding onto him tight as if it would make the pain go away. "... I ruined the trip, didn't I."

He held onto Eridan with a soft sigh, kissing his shoulder. "Sollux, more painkillers please." He called out.

"No, no listen, you saved the trip. You're the absolute best. Besides, this was out last day, it doesn't matter as long as you're fine." He smiles softly.

"Plus, Sollux is too busy being shitty and playing shitty games to enjoy the island."

"I gave you painkillers less than two hours ago, why do you need more?" Sollux called back, standing up and walking to the back cabin. "Do you need my migraine pills?"

"Do you have anything weaker?"

"I have slightly less than disgusting pills and absolutely horrid pills that do about the same thing. They're not as strong."

Eridan groaned, burying his face against Dave's shoulder and reaching a hand out to make grabby motions at Sollux. "Gimme the drugs."

"I did ruin it. We'll have to go back earlier now, and we won't be able to do a morning swim or anything."

Once Sollux came back, he reached out to tug on his shirt a bit to get his attention. "Thanks for getting us out of there." He muttered

"I'm a selfish piece of shit. I'm just very good at bein' protective of my boyfriend. And I guess his dumb blackmate." He sighed, curling up against Dave while Sollux ducked out to grab the weaker painkillers he always kept with him.

"I'm not about to let you die from a dumb shark." He simply said in reply, moving to sit on the end of the bed after he'd passed over the pills and water.

"Now this is a nice cabin. Why do you keep all the good shit to yourself you selfish bastard?"

"I'm the captain. Captain's rules."

Dave rolled his eyes, still holding on to his shirt. Probably for extra feelings of protection.

"Because this is our cuddle room. We need a room specifically for cuddles. I don't make the rules, I just play by them."

He decided to ignore Eridan's statement, since he didn't want to get in an argument about whether or not he was selfish or shit. Which he wasn't.

Sollux rolled his eyes, stretching his legs out and poking Dave in the side. Eridan narrowed his eyes slightly, but didn't give much other comment, knowing that he could just tell Sollux to fuck off at any time if he needed to. He just didn't have the energy right now, too focused on the fact that he was in pain and had probably ruined the rest of the trip.
