"Sign language is interesting. I've been meaning to add it to my collections of languages but I never seem to get the hang of it properly when I look at it. I'll probably learn it soon though. There's a deaf girl in my creative writing class an' she always looks on my notes because I write whatever we need to do for her in the margins. She gives me mentos in return. It's a good trade."
"Humans sound ridicules underwater anyway." He said with a grin, "I'll try though, see if I'm comprehensible enough for you to understand me when I point out stuff."

"Oh so you have someone to practice with, that's awesome. She'd probably be very interested in talking to you like that either way." He likes that idea. He also likes the idea of Eridan making more friends, since he seems to be the only one, but maybe not. Maybe he was just the first one his friends found out about.
"I may sound ridiculous under water, but I always found my voice to be oddly soothing and fitting for monologues on land." He retorts with a smirk. "Would be great if I could though. Then you could be the one monologuing."

"It would be nice to have someone else to talk to, because as much as I'm sure you adore my presence Dave, it does get annoy after a bit." He grinned. He privately thought that the girl, whose name he was sure started with M, would be nice to talk to, even if it probably wouldn't be for too long. A few months, maybe a week longer. It was sort of expected now. His acquaintances had a habit of adding in what was not needed, and ruining whatever relationships he managed to hold.
"Which will be more of me exclaiming loudly over a variety of sea creatures." He rolled his eyes and grinned. "You might even get to see the seahorses!"

"Oh I'm sure it does, me and my silly trilobites must get boring after a while. Haha, who am I kidding, me and my awesome trilobites never get boring. But I am phased to know that you'd invite someone that annoys you after a bit on a trip for 3 whole days." He teased, smiling wide.
He mostly wanted to see Eridan get excited over seahorses, really, even if interacting with them himself could be proven to be pretty cool. "Sounds like a plan, whenever you ready." With this, he chugs down the last bit of AJ, and finishes his food, crumbling the wrap and throwing it in a small trash bin.

"Can't be much more of a bore than me an' ol' Augustus." He rolled his eyes, grinning. "Trilobites provided much entertainment an' many a rainy day Dave, but the rocky crustacean was no match for the bubbling belemnite. The alteration provided serious brownie points there." He was snickering by then, fins wiggling.
"I'm ready now. C'mon, let's go. It'll take us about ten or so minutes to motor over in the dinghy, but then we'll be good to swim to our hearts content." He nearly bounced excitedly on the balls of his feet, but that would be uncharacteristically happy, not to mention he'll probably knock his horns on the roof.

"Augustus has a very interesting name, and he was probably crazy." He defends. "But nothing really beats a bubbling bashful beautiful belemite. Guh, can't remember the rest." He laughs
"Lemme just get the stash." He holds up a finger, going to his bag again, and grabbing a small pair of red goggles, and the mouthpiece. "Alright, all set, lets get our asses moving."

"He was most definitely crazy, all the interesting ones were. Except Caligula. He was batshit crazy but not even interesting. Just... annoying really. Annoying an' weird." He pulled a face and moved to pull himself up back into the cockpit.
He'd dropped the dinghy into the water by the time Dave was back up with his stuff. He'd climbed in and was unhooking the dinghy from the boat, glancing up as Dave came up. He dragged the boat around to the side for now, still attached by the main rope of the dinghy to one of the back cleats. "The water's not too bad now. It's pretty balmy. There was a heavy current a few meters down back out there, but here look fine." He glanced at Dave again, smiling before turning back to drop the stepladder folded up into the back of the boat. He'd already folded down the part of the stern that double as a step when dropped backwards before reaching for the dinghy again. "Shall we?"

"I have no idea of how anyone's legs fit in that." He smiles softly. "But yeah, let's hurry before shit goes wrong somehow." He managed to get on the dinghy pretty easily, which was a really funny name and he would probably laugh if he said it out loud, waiting for him to do his majyc. "Think we can just swim a bit, you know, without the diving stuff first? It's just that I haven't done that in a while." He smiles fondly at the memory of small him with a huge floater around him. Despite living so close to water, he doesn't make use of it often, which is a shame.

"I'd say magic but that's fake. Science?" He grinned, undoing the rope from the cleat and tugging it over the bow of the dinghy before sitting down next to the motor. "Sure. It's only a few meters deep around the reef, seeing as it's all raised a bit an' it being low tide at the moment. I won't let you drown Dave." He smiled as he started the motor, pushing away from the boat with one hand before moving the dinghy off. He didn't go too fast, merely a nice steady cruising speed so they didn't disturb anything that may be resting on the sea bottom. They'd probably see a few stingrays or starfish. Maybe even a turtle just resting on the bottom.

"No, no, definitely magic." A soft half smile forms on his face. "As a person alone should not fit in it, yet look, two of us in here."
"Hope you know how to give CPR because I have not swimmed in years, probably. Like, actually swim, not just go in the water for a minute or two and come out because its going to rain and god damnit you could swear the weather was fine just a minute ago. Last time I did it I should have been around... 15? Maybe."
He looks around as they start moving, interested in his surroundings, and lets a hand dip in the water, relishing the nice feeling.

"Magic's not real Dave." He couldn't help but roll his eyes at that, an old habit. "This dinghy can fit up to four. Maybe even five if one is small enough."
"I know how to scare people back to life, will that work?" He grinned, more of a smirk really. "You'll be fine Dave. Once you know how to swim you don't exactly forget how to do it in a hurry, even after many years." He slowed the dinghy as they motored over some seagrass. Eridan leaned over the side a bit to have a look down into the water, catching sight of a few sea stars."
2015-07-14 07:09:42 -

"Most likely yes. A good scare ought to do it." He rolls his eyes, smiling still. "Well, yeah, most likely, but I guess we'll be putting it to test anyway, plus I got a mouthpiece and goggles." He just hoped he didnt accidentally breathe through his nose like a complete loser.
He looks over when Eridan does, smiling. The water wasnt too clear, but not dirty either. which was a great sign of biodiversity.

"Of course. Seadwelling 101. Scare the motherfucker back to life an' everything will be fine." He grinned and laughed, shaking his head a bit. He slowed the dinghy to a stop a few minutes later, a couple of meters from a dark patch in the water. From here one could see a few details of the coral closest to the surface.
"Okay, this is it. Lemme put the anchor in an' then we can swim." He smiled at Dave, standing and reaching around him to get the anchor out of the front cabin. He threw it into the water, making sure it landed in the sand below the dinghy, and making a note to push it in more firmly once he was in the water.
"After you." He gestured to the water with a smile.

"Looking good, its a nice place." He nodded, looking around him, still wanting to take in the details of the view. As he places the anchor, Dave put the goggles on, making sure he could see fine, and adjusted the elastic band as he pleased.
"Well, if you do insist." He pats his pocket to make sure he left the phone back in his backpack, and places the mouth piece on his mouth, graciously -but not really- diving in, with a bit of a splash, after taking off his shirt

Eridan waited until he was in the water and holding onto the side of the dinghy before he jumped in. His glasses were tucked into the front cabinet of the dinghy where the anchor was usually stored. No use getting them wet. He dove in over Dave's head, taking a few moments underwater to readjust to breathing with his gills again. The water here was nice, clear, clean. He popped back up then, grinning at Dave. "So. Start of with swimming? Take however long you need, it'll be more enjoyable for you then." He moved away a bit from the dinghy, giving Dave as much room as he wanted.

He smiled a little when he surfaced, shaking his head like a wet dog to make the hair get off his face. He figured he could just keep the mouthpiece in his pocket, since it was small and meant to extract oxygen from water anyway. "Alright, I'll be just chilling then." He smiles, letting himself float on his back for a while, enjoying the feeling of having his ears underwater. It was always one of his favourite feelings.

Eridan dove back underwater to push the anchor deeper into the sand. He stayed down there for a bit, moving away from the anchor and pushing the sand around for a bit before he'd created a nice little hollow in the sand. He settled into it, staring up at the sky above through the water, and glancing occasionally at Dave's floating form. It was peaceful.
He noticed his ears were underwater and tilted his head slightly, wondering.
"Can you hear me?"
2015-07-14 07:33:43 -
●
Dave liked how quiet it was. When he did this, it was always so peaceful, so relaxing. He could fall asleep there if he really needed to. His red swimming trunks with little white flowers all over felt more baggy than usual too, only clinging to his butt for the most part.
After a bit, he heard a voice, and smiled, just giving him a thumbs up
2015-07-14 07:37:26 -
🌀
"Cool." He shut up for a bit after that, just relaxing into the sand and dozing comfortably. He'd sleep here if he felt really inclined to. He blinked a bit when he noticed Dave float more over his way.
He'd be lying to absolutely everyone if he said he did not find the human the least bit attractive. But, not that everyone needed to know that. That'd just create more drama. So, no telling of appreciation for human friends any time soon.
He let out a snort at the mere thought, a cloud of bubbles rising up above him from the actions.

Eridan gave his position away when he snorted, the bubbles raising up to Dave's legs, making him flinch, and look around him. Raising a brow, hd turned around and looked down, smiling at Eridan. Dave got back up, fishing his mouthpiece, and putting it on once the water was gone from the part that went in his mouth, placing it in his mouth and diving to go up to Eridan
2015-07-14 07:44:43 -
🌀
Eridan was grinning from his hollow in the sand when Dave swam down to him, small bubbles rising from his mouth as he snickered. "Aw did I disturb your floating snooze?" He laughed, rolling over and kicking once to push himself away from the sand. He turned just as quickly, facing Dave now and hovering in front of him. He gestured to the reef behind them with a flick of his head. "Shall we, Goldilocks?"
2015-07-14 07:48:22 -
●
He smiles as he asked him that, nodding, a bit bummed out that he can't talk back, but just rolls with it. He has to constantly kick the water so that he stays down though, so he holds onto Eridan's arm and slows down his breathing, hoping that if he took in less oxygen it would work. He gave him a thumbs up, nodding
2015-07-14 16:10:05 -
🌀
Eridan returned the smile, shifting a bit so Dave could hold onto his arm better. He swam slowly, at a more comfortable pace than he usually would. "This coral's over a hundred years old. It takes in all the carbon in the air that comes through with the sunlight from above, an' stores it like trees an' plants do. Coral's really fragile though, so we're gonna have to be careful around here." He smiled again over his shoulder at him, pointing out various types of coral as they made their way through the clumps of reef.
2015-07-14 21:05:50 -
●
He nodded yet again, enjoying the slow pace. Eridan really was a good anchor, he noticed. He went to say something about the coral, but as soon as he even thought about opening his mouth, he frowned at himself a little for being stupid, and just kept breathing.
Dave was delighted. There was really no other word for what he was feeling right now. Everything was so quiet, but somehow he didn't feel as isolated as a while ago. Now it just felt peaceful, not lonely.
2015-07-14 21:16:41 -
🌀
A few inquistive fish had peeked out from their hideyholes as they swam passed, having hidden at the sound of the motor. Eridan drew Dave closer as they approached a coral bridge, pulling him down a bit so they could swim under it without hitting the coral.
"Wanna see if we can find the seahorses?" He looked at Dave, keeping their steady slow pace. He knew there was a large clump of sea grass anchored into the rock a few meters ahead of them somewhere, and that last time there had been seahorses there.
