Dave was playing with the camera in his hands, that was now around his neck so that he would not forget to bring it back. He would be the biggest liar if he said he wasn't excited to see a clear sky, or if it would even be as clear as he was imagining. Maybe he should lower his expectations a little bit, he was sure it would be cool, but maybe not that great. Yeah.
It didn't take long for them to get to the place either, and when they did, Dave helped him unload the stuff.

The weather had been good to them, only a few clouds drifting over head. The wind wasn't on the beach, merely sticking to breezing out over open water. Eridan found a suitable spot for the campfire they would build, just above the high tide mark, so that if needed the ocean would take the firepit away. He put the bag down, taking the jumpers out and putting them on top of the bag for now. He stretched, glancing up at the sky.
The stars were already starting to peek out as the sun completely vanished for the night, and Eridan simply stared, as he always did.
"Dave."

He was sitting down next to Eridan, looking at the pictures he had taken meanwhile, but when he said his name, he made a questioning sound, looking over. He followed his gaze, and smiled as he saw it, biting his lip slightly. He couldn't wait to keep taking the pictures, but mostly to hear what Eridan had to say about the stars. "Exactly how clear did you say the sky would be?" He mutters.

"Clearer than glass windows, clearer than a millpond," his voice was a murmur as he looked up at the sky, watched as the last lights faded and the stars came out in full force. He was watching the universe from one tiny spot on one small island, and he felt much smaller than he should.
"Give it a few more minutes, you'll be able to see everything then. Stars, Milky Way, everything."
He should probably be collecting sticks for the fire, but he'd had a look around when they got there, and he knew where a log or two was roughly so he wasn't too worried about wasting time watching the stars.

Dave nodded, staying quiet as he too watched in awe. Ten minutes might have passed with him just looking, hands resting on his camera, as they usually were if it was around his neck, but not moving. After those ten minutes he'd say everything was much clearer, and he saw three times more stars than he saw regularly, though he still didn't think it had reached it's full potential. He decided to snap a picture of that moment, quietly, not wanting to disturb Eridan's moment, then smirked a little and took a picture of him as well.

Eridan was oblivious to it all, looking up at the sky. He shifted, coming back to his senses and glanced around to look at Dave. "I'm going to go find some sticks for the fire." He said quietly, not wanting to distract him from his star watching. "I'll be back in a minute." He turned, grabbed a head torch just in case and heading towards the tree line. There were a few larger logs he picked up, holding them under one arm as he picked up a heap of smaller sticks and branches. He headed back to Dave after around fifteen or so minutes, setting them quietly next to the bag. He set a out digging a small hollow to build the fire in.

He was a bit surprised that he didn't notice that he took a picture, but he didn't say much about it. He really seemed into it.
As he left, he checked the picture he took, digging his feet into the sand a bit more. He really wanted a picture of him at night doing the bioluminescence thing, but he wasn't sure if he should ask, let alone now. He'd figure something out.
For now, he just laid back on the sand, snapping a picture when he thought the sky looked like nothing but a christmas tree, which was around the time he came back.

He didn't say much as he built up the fire, letting the quiet lull over them. He heard the quick click of Dave's camera now, and glanced up occasionally at the sky to try and see what would be worth taking a photo of. "Clear enough for you?" He'd dug out the matches now, having decided that what he'd put together was enough for now. It took two matches before the dry leaves and sticks caught fire, and soon they had a nice little blaze going.

"Mhm." Dave nods, the sound of nothing but the waves and the beginning of the fire having him more relaxed than usual. "It's gorgeous. Can't believe I'm actually watching this." He smiled a little bit. "I mean, it's always been there, that's crazy."

"I know. Space is amazing." He looked up at the sky again, leaning his back on his hands as he looked up. "There's so much out there, so much you can see. It's one of the things i don't really like about the city, too many lights. Well that an' the water's shit but blotting out the stars with artificial lights always seemed pretty crap to me."

He nodded, not managing to come up with an argument against the point he was making. "I like to think of the light stars emit as fossil light. The star might be dead now, or it might have turned into some other type of star, but we keep getting that same light. Knowing that I like dead things, that is a little appealing to me."
2015-07-16 10:47:15 -
🌀
"That's... An interesting take on it." He looked at Dave, head tilted slightly. "Never thought about it that way. They really are all dead by the time we look at them huh. An' all those nutters telling people to wish on stars." He let out a snort, sitting up to pull the bag closer and get out the food. "Whatever it is, I love looking at them."
2015-07-16 10:48:50 -
●
Dave laughs very softly, mostly just a slight shuffle of his shoulders accompanied by a smile. "Yeah, fossils are pleasant, so this would be too. Hey um... can I ask you a favour that involves my camera and you lighting up like a glow stick?"

🌀
Eridan stopped rummaging around in the bag to find the paper plates he'd shoved in there earlier to look at Dave. "You... Want to take a photo of me lighting up?" He turned to look at Dave, an eyebrow raised in the firelight. "Like in the water or?" He didn't quite get why Dave would want a photo of a glowy seadweller.

"On land would do the trick, I just thought it would look neat, now that it's night time. But yeah." He nods. "If you don't want to, that's chill, of course, just thought it would be a nice thing to snap a pic of."
2015-07-16 10:55:19 -
🌀
"I think if you were to take one, an' I'm not saying no I just don't get why, I'd think water would be a cooler looking picture." He shifted to look at Dave properly, head tilted to the side. "It's not the nicest looking set of b'luminents there is, you could probably find a better looking seadweller to take a nicer photo, but I don't mind standing an' lighting up for a bit."

"Well do you want to get wet when you don't have a towel? Thought so." He shrugs. "And don't you go getting all self conscious on me now, I like them. You're probably the best I'd find anyway, I don't want any other violet asshole." He smiles slightly.
2015-07-16 11:00:04 -
🌀
"I ain't getting self conscious." He huffed at him, fins flapping as if to back up his words. "I'm just saying. It's been said often enough that I thought it best to ask. An' if I sit by the fire afterwards I'll be fine, but whatever, you're the photographer here." He stood up, leaving the food as is for now and brushing sand off his butt. He crossed his arms over his chest, hip cocked as he looked at Dave with an eyebrow raised.
2015-07-16 11:14:55 -

"You're fine, you handsome hunk of a seadweller, go get in the water for me." He laughs a little bit, though he doesn't really think of him as unattractive in any way. He got up as well, as if to speed up the process, changing his settings a little bit as he walked closer to the water.
2015-07-16 11:17:15 -
🌀
"You're an asshole." He huffed at him regardless, pulling off the T-shirt he'd put on back at the boat and walking towards the water. He hissed a bit at the freshness of the water, grumbling softly before relaxing. The water was nice now, and he walked in up until it cover his swim pants before turning back to face Dave.
And then he let himself light up again.

Dave bit his lip lightly, mostly in concentration, looking him over for a second. He took a picture, making sure he had the first moments of the pose down, before starting to tease him. "C'mon darling give us a smile why don't'cha?" He said in a special kind of annoying voice
2015-07-16 11:22:03 -
🌀
"I'm going to gut you with a filleting knife." He just crossed his arms over his chest and raised a (slightly glowing) eyebrow. "You wouldn't even be able to see the smile, it's dark an' the sparkly lights don't stretch to teeth." He was trying to contain a grin as it was, mainly because Dave was acting silly.
2015-07-16 20:53:47 -

Dave grins, taking another picture now that he was kinda smiling. The star-filled background contrasted well with the glow. "That doesn't mean the photographer doesn't want to see it. Strike a pose for me." Now he was seeing if he could humour him and maybe take some silly shots.
2015-07-16 20:57:55 -

"I will castrate you in your sleep." He laughed then, however, shaking his head at Dave. He didn't quite know what he was asking him to do. Like, what kind of pose? It was ridicules. He kicked water in the general direction of Dave, not really wanting to get him wet but just for the sake of it.

"It will be worth it. Are you going to do what I asked, fussyfins senior?" He kept grinning, laughing softly at the kick, just kneeling by the sand to get a better angle
