"I think he would have preferred it without me there." He mused, feeling a little sad. He'd liked it when Sollux flipped red or pale on him, but he figured himself to be a realist, and knew that Sollux probably didn't like it at all.

"Dave. Dave shut up a second." He kissed him briefly, then held a hand over Dave's mouth. "Why the fuck would Sollux want me red? He hates my guts. And I doubt he has any sort of feelings for me anymore, or if he ever did. Dave what's going on? Did he tell you to do this?"

He feels tempted to lick his hand, but he doesn't think this is a good moment to be a shit. Still, he pulls it away from his mouth to speak, and holds it. "He got to see another side of you while we were there, and he said he didn't 100% want to finish what you had before. Still, he said he doesn't want you in a black quadrant. Something about wanting to help you be better still, but in a more loving way, at least that's what I took from it. We talked for a while when he drove me back, and he said he'd talk to you about this, so I thought id let him, but ups."

"Well, he certainly didn't say anything to me last night." He hadn't checked his phone after he'd finished texting Dave though, so he wouldn't know whether Sollux had messaged him. "I don't... I don't understand." His fins were folded down, making him look vulnerable and confused. "He knows you're my red though, and my pale. Are you alright with this?"

He hurries to nod to reassure him, and oh god he looks adorable right now. "He said as much, since I brought that up. He wasn't planning on doing anything about it, I was the one that started that chat. And then he said you might think he's after my red quadrant or something, and he said you'd let me just date him, which, spoilers, would fucking suck because I love you, holy shit, and said he'd have to think it over. Still, I think we can make it work." He doesn't feel as jelous today as he did before. If anything, he wants to see Eridan be happy.

He twitched a little, because it was true. If Sollux made Dave happier than he thought he did, he'd give him up. He wouldn't do what everyone always said he did, cling and whine and refuse to let anyone leave him. Eridan rested his forehead against Dave's shoulder, sighing. "Can you go get my phone? I'll ask him now. I think it's next to yours in your room." He didn't know what to think, and he felt guilty because he still wanted Sollux in a quadrant.

He nods, kissing his forehead. "Just know I love you no matter what, ok?" He let him rest there for a couple of seconds before eventually getting up to go get it, and he sits right on his lap again.

Eridan took a moment to just rest his forehead against Dave's shoulder again when he came back, fins flicking around while he tried to make up his mind over this. He did want to ask him, but he was also a little afraid of the answer.

Eventually he sighed, leaning back in the chair and holding his phone with one hand while his other hand went around Dave's waist. There weren't any messages from Sollux.

After a few seconds, it vibrated as he got a reply.
