Eridan spluttered at that, ducking under the water and surfacing again with a pout at Dave. "You ruined my hair." he said sarcastically, splashing water at him.
Sollux was still standing onboard, looking uncomfortable and wary as he held the mask. Eridan rolled his eyes, but swam to the back of the boat to put the ladder down for him. "Dave is going t' be the on you're going t' have to cling to. Ain't got no bouys here."
He got in eventually, hissing about the cold of the water (it wasn't that bad, but he was a warmblood) and clinging to the ladder.

Dave grins, and starts floating on his back, kissing Eridan's chin. He looked at Sollux though, and felt kinda bad for him. As fun as it would be to make fun of him, Dave didn't have it in him to do it, so he just swam over and offered an arm to him, taking off the mouth piece to talk to him. "Come on, its fine."

Sollux's glare could have warmed up the ocean, but he reluctantly took Dave's arm. He's only ever swum in shoulder deep water before, so this was a bit disconcerting. Eridan remembered that, and swam closer, gesturing to the other side of the boat and closer to the shore. "We'll head that way. I need to look over this shark properly, and you two need to figure out how to swim again in such a way that isn't fuckin' doggy paddle." He grinned at Dave, even though he was talking to both of them. He darted under the water once he was done talking, keeping below their feet and leading the way.
Sollux tried not to see how relaxed Eridan was now.

Dave just kicked his feet to keep them floating, and nodded, starting to slowly make his way to shore with Sollux. "Nothing wrong with paddling, don't judge yo." He smirked, though he was absolutely guilty if it.
He was pretty patient with Sollux, not once mocking him. Dave wasn't a mean person by nature, so it would go against his moral compass to do it right now.

"You're not acting like a black." He accused softly, though for once he was totally okay with that. And while he knew that black's shouldn't mock each other for actual weakness, and should help them get past that, Dave was acting more in... a red or pale way than a black way to the scenario. It was odd.
Eridan noticed it as well, but he just chalked it up to Dave being human.

"Would you rather I throw you in the water and let you figure out what to do?" He rolls his eyes. "I'm not an asshole by nature alright."
It was definitely because he was a human. He also didn't care about or understand the nuances between quadrants.

"I'm just thaying. You're not treating me ath though thith ith thomething I'm going to do to help me get better at overcoming it. You're treating me like I need coddling. You're acting fucking pale on me Thtrider." He scowled a little, but when he saw they were getting into shallower waters, he felt more at ease.
2016-04-17 11:47:08 -
●
"You're going to overcome it alright, just not in the first seconds you touch water. Stop complaining or I'll kick you." He rolls his eyes again, harder this time, and splashes some water on Sollux with a smirk.

Eridan rolled his eyes at them both, surfacing at about chest deep water. The whale shark had been following them closely, and was now swimming slowly around Eridan while he checked it over.
Sollux stood once he was able too, letting go of Dave and watching Eridan with a raised brow.

Dave floated on his back again when he managed, humming softly, and splashed some water at Eridan too with a smirk. "We didn't paddle."

"You sure? Those hand movements could'a been taken for it." He teased, leaning over to kiss his cheek briefly before he ducked under the water and swam with the whale shark for a bit, figuring out what was wrong with it's gills. It had something stuck in it, and he carefully, very very carefully, started pulling it out. Thankfully, whatever it was wasn't massive, and he was able to get it out. He'd probably still take the shark back with him either way when they leave, just to make sure.

His smile widened, and he laughed. "Pretty sure you fucking asshole, go to your big fish and leave me be." He said playfully, and kicked the water in such a way that it got Sollux all wet.

🌀
Sollux scowled at him, but grabbed Dave's ankle and yanked him under in return. Asshole.
Eridan just floated by them, the shark lazily swimming next to him. "You both are so immature. Stop splashing. You able to swim yet or not?" He looked at Sollux, who just rolled his eyes and nodded.
"Great. Stick the mouth piece in. I wanna go say hi to seahorses."
2016-04-17 12:08:38 -
●
"SHIT." Was all he was able to say as he was tugged underwater, but when he surfaced, he was laughing. "Yeah Eridan I'm literally 6, sue me."
At the mention of seahorses though, he put on his mouth piece and handed out his arm to Sollux again, pretty ready to go.
2016-04-17 12:10:57 -
🌀
Sollux held onto Dave's arm again, making sure his mouthpiece and goggles were securing before letting himself be pulled along and swimming again. He wasn't really confident in the water, but he could swim well enough to make sure he can stay afloat.
Eridan darted ahead of them, but circled back continuously. The little whale shark hung back near the boat for now.

Sollux and Dave anchored eachother, he supposed, which was good, since it meant their needs were fulfilled. As they went deeper, he looked around, happy that he was back. He missed this place. He definitely missed the cute seahorses that got all up in his hair too.
2016-04-17 12:17:06 -
🌀
Sollux hadn't been exposed to seahorses before, and Eridan was a little hesitant about giving away such pretty sights and secrets so freely to someone who'd wronged him so much in the past year. Still, Dave was happy that they were somewhat getting along, and he didn't want to ruin it now. He sighed, but led them through the coral to where the seahorses are. As soon as he settled next to the coral and the kelp, seahorses swam out to curl around his hair and fingers.

Dave tugged Sollux to sit down at the bottom while Eridan got the seahorses, smiling. He was trying to get Sollux to see that Eridan was not who they thought, so this sort of thing was needed, even though he himself had his own internal conflicts about this.
He extended a hand so that Eridan would pass him some seahorses.
2016-04-17 12:21:10 -
🌀
He was still hesitating, and even Sollux could see it, but Eridan eventually sighed, shoulders dropping a little as he murmured quietly to the seahorses to calm them as he brought a few over to Dave and Sollux. He coaxed a few onto Dave's hands, but didn't give any to Sollux. He didn't know what he would do, and he didn't trust him not to accidentally hurt them.

Dave let them stay on his hand, smiling at them, and he nudged Sollux so that he could take a look. There were so.many there in so many different colours, and a baby one was swimming right in front of Dave's face.
2016-04-17 12:26:21 -
🌀
Sollux had been watching ever since Eridan brought him over. One inquisitive one swam closer to him, intrigued by the faint electric currents Sollux gave off wherever he was. It didn't cause any harm, but it made Eridan's horns tingle right at the tips so the seahorses must definitely feel it. He uncurls his hand slightly, and the seahorse bumps against his knuckles, blubbing at Eridan about weird beings again.
2016-04-17 12:28:56 -
●
The small one eventually tangles in Dave's hair, blubbering about weird soft kelp. A couple of others go to Sollux as well, and one braver seahorse curls around his finger like a small balloon.
2016-04-17 12:34:12 -
🌀
Sollux fights to keep his expression neutral, disinterested, because he shouldn't like these sorts of things. This is Eridan's thing. He shouldn't be feeling accepted, or anything dumb like that with these things.
But he is.
And Eridan knows it.
2016-04-17 12:35:18 -

The other seahorses opt for going to his horns, and curl around them. They can feel the electric waves particularly well there, and they feel a little weird, but alas they're still curious. They all start talking about why the other guy doesn't have pointy things on his head, but they all reach the conclusion that he's just a different species.
2016-04-17 12:39:38 -
🌀
Eridan's deep in conversation with the seahorses by now, talking about the different species and how there's different species in different species. It doesn't make much sense to the seahorses though, so he's just left with shaking his head at them in amusement and gently coaxing them back so that they can go back to their coral and he can keep on exploring with the others.
"Wonder if that reef shark is still around?"
