He'd probably wake up if he was smothered in kisses. A nice way to wake up though and he'd probably smile all sleepy like and be more adorable. Which he'd then promptly deny because he's Eridan and he doesn't do "adorable".

Eridan settled closer, breathing easily and completely and utterly out of it. No waking him up now, Dave put him too far under sleep.

It was Karkat, and as Dave checked the ringing stopped. It started straight up again, vibrating against the table top.

Karkat had a full rant ready, more than happy to scream a seadwellers earfins out if he had to but once Dave answered he couldn't do that. Assholes.

"Well wake him the fuck up and put him on. I'm not ranting to you."

He grumbled a little more. "Why is he even asleep. He never sleeps."

He made a disgruntled hissing noise. "Don't ever call him beauty in any joking sense of form. I've seen better looking shits done by a dog. And fine. You can be the one to pass on the lovely message I so kindly spent a long while thinking up."

"He's a fucking idiot. A moronic, brain addled fuckhead who's manipulative and uselessly deceptive. Everyone knows about you two know, no thanks to Kanaya's weird as shit girlfriend. And he swore a promise never to get into any kind of quadranted mess ever again. And he's gone and done exactly that with the one human we told him specifically to stay away from. Tell him Feferi's on her way to talk to him, and he better have a good ass fucking excuse or he's seeing the end of her trident." He hung up after that.

Dave furrowed his eyebrows, pretty ready to talk some shit when he hung up. God damnit. This wasn't even a quadrant!

He puts the phone away and gets up carefully, to pace around in he kitchen. He did however replace himself with a pillow so that Eridan could squeeze something.

He really wanted to break something.

Eridan cuddled up to the pillow quite happily, not yet aware that dave wasn't with him. He was still blissfully unaware of everything that just happened.

Rose however, texted Dave.

"Apologies Dave, but I think I may have just made yours and Eridan's situation a little worse. Kanaya didn't take too well to hearing about your relationship."

"Karkat just called to say Eridan may have a trident through his belly in addiction to a chainsaw. No big deal rose. Why would it be a big deal." He was kinda angry as fuck. "Did you even tell her we weren't in a quadrant? Did you do anything to help is at all?"

After he sent that he kinda regretted it.

"Sorry just. Karkat is an angry fellow and I'm absorbing it. I know you must have."

"I stressed it wasn't a quadrant situation, yes. Kanaya was just angry in general though, even after I asked her why and told her specifically that Eridan had no intention of murdering you."

"Wait why would he have a trident in him? Or a chainsaw? Kanaya's just angry, but she's not going to kill him. Probably give him a Very Stern Talking To but I don't think she'll kill him."

She hesitates in replying, but a glance at Kanaya's still guilty and irritated face and she sighs, replying. "Alone Dave. He would have to leave alone if he were to leave at all."

He tucks the phone away and sits down, running his fingers through Eridan's hair. "Hey, baby wake up." He mutters, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

No use in startling him since the very moment he woke up.
