Eridan glared at Dave, eyes narrowed. Then he smiled, turning his look to Jake. "Yeah I did. I have some photos at home though, of Dave when he was swimming with some fish and stuff. You should see them, he's got all these little fish in his hair and everything." His fins had finally stopped wiggling, and he tried to make sure they stayed still even when Jake looked up at him like that.

Dave had to struggle not to laugh, but seeing him troubled with this kind of thing was pretty funny.

"And Eridan can talk to the fishies. Did you know he rescued some and has them at home in a fish tank? Actually, he was taking a lot of seahorses from that tank to the park when you met us.

Jake looks ecstatic right now. "You can talk to fishies? Nana has a big dog and sometimes it looks like he understands us, but you can actually talk and understand them. Oh gosh, you're the best." He hugged him happily, Dave smiling, pretty satisfied.

He shrugged. "It changes from time to time, and fish don't really use actual words so it's sorta just bubbling at me about wanting more food, or less food, or for all the fish to be fed at the same time or things like that. He's very picky."

He giggles a little. "We call him fussy-fins." Dave adds, making Jake laugh a bit harder.

His grandma intervenes though. "Jakey, we should go home, maybe you can go play with the nice girl that lives by us." Jake looks at Eridan and then at Dave, knowing that what his grandma says is definitive, and hugs Eridan tight. "Goodbye cool mister!" He hops off his lap a good minute later, going to quickly hug Dave too. "And second cool mister."

He then took his grandma's hand to go, waving at them happily. "I'll see you tomorrow!"

He raised a brow at how tight he was hugged, but patted the top of his head with a smile. "See you tomorrow Jake."

He waited until they were well out of the cafe before his smile dropped and he kicked Dave in the shin. "I hate you." He dropped his forehead to rest on the table, running a hand through his hair. "Why on earth does he admire me. What even. What the actual fuck Dave."

It's not like you're going to teach him how to shoot a rifle. I'm fairly sure his grandma has already done that for you though. He wraps his arms around him, nuzzling Eridan's hair softly. "Jake is a nice kid, if you fuck up in front of him, just tell him to learn from your mistakes. It's natural. Plus I think he looks up at you in a 'I want my life to be THAT cool when I'm grown' kind of way, which is fairly understandable, love." He kissed his temple. "You're a nice person with violent impulses that come when someone provokes you, which is natural."
