The day went by slowly, Dave slowly dying on th inside as the minutes went by. This was so boring.

Eridan ended up napping again around twelve, giving up on his course work for a nap. Once he woke up though, he ate one of the leftover waffles and then started on a latex cast so that he could start practicing Dave's tattoo.

At around four, he finally gave into talking to Eridan, and texted him mid class.

"Hey, whats up?"

Eridan set down the tool he was using, picking up his phone to reply.

"Nothin really. Just started practicin."

He sent a photo of what he had done already, which was the outling of the koi fish and the water lillies, and had started on the colours of the koi fish.

He started at the picture in awe, immediately becoming more awake.

A minute or so of staring later, he finally replied. "dude. i cant believe im gonna have that on me. sick"

Eridan smiled at the reply, fins wiggling quite happily. "im goin to do that other one too. The one wwith the meltin clock so you can see which you like more."

He thought about this for a bit, taking the time to imagine those scenarios. "i want the clock one on my arm, yeah, the one opposite to the shoulder blade thats getting the koi. you decide which part of the arm it would look good on."

"I could make the koi go from shoulder to hip instead of across your wwhole back if that sounds better?" Personally, Eridan thought that would look much better, the koi and lillies from left shoulder to right hip and the the melting clock on the right arm.

"ill do some more test runs, and maybe draww up wwhat it wwould look like and send it to you." He went to go find a plain piece of paper and a pencil, dropping back into his seat and quickly sketching out how he thought it could go.

Eridan didn't answer until he had finished up the sketch, taking two photos of the left shoulder to right hip for the koi, and for the right shoulder and the melting clock. "howw about this?"

By the time he was done, Dave had finished classes, and was now going to a nearby cafe to get a smoothie.

He smiled a little at the return text, and set about starting up another latex cast. "okay then. ill stick wwith these designs. i dont knoww howw long it wwill take until im good wwith howw it looks though."

He pouted at his phone, wondering what the surprise could be.

Eventually though, he did send a 'lovve you' back, setting his phone aside before he started again on the koi tattoo, this time using the new design.

He giggled at the texts he got, enjoying the effect he had on Eridan.

Later that day, he swung by Eridan's house, the surprise being right on his face. He had gone and gotten the septum ring, and in his opinion, he rocks it

Eridan had spent the entire time up until Dave arrived working on the back tattoo. He had been sitting hunched over, so when he heard the knock at the door and sat up, he almost instantly hunched back over again, back aching. Still, he went to go open the door, smiling as he saw Dave.

And then his eyes caught the shiny thing on his nose, and his smile grew. He took a hold of Dave's chin, tipping his head up to have a better look. "This your surprise? So shiny."

His own smile widened when he saw Eridan's, and he tipped his chin back further, showing off. "It's the best surprise."

The ring was small, but it was defintely very shiny. It left little space between what separates his nostrils and the end of the ring.
