He nodded, sitting down beside him. It was a warm day, and he leaned back on his hands and tilted his face up towards the sun.

He dried the plastic that was protecting the camera fully before handing it to Eridan. He didn't take it off yet because it could accidentally get wet. "There should be about 30 or 40 photos."

"Since we arrived or since today?" He shifted until he was leaning comfortably against Dave, kissing his cheek before starting to go through the photos.

"Oh since today. There should be... around 50 or 60 since we arrived, give or take a few." He smiles as his cheek is kissed, and just closes his eyes, enjoying the sunlight on his skin.

He hummed in acknowledgement, going through each of the photos slowly. He smiled at the ones of the shark, and of the fish that had eventually come out of hiding for them.

He had several pictures of each thing, in different angles, since he liked having options to pick from when he could no longer take those pictures. Eridan was a big focus on this particular case though, even if in some he was with the fish he was photographing.

"You like taking photos of me, don't you?" He teased lightly, nudging his jaw with his nose. He looked happy in those photos, which was a surprise because he hasn't realised he was smiling for the most part.

"You ever thought about going professional? Like, selling these, working for people. You've got like, an entire freight ship worth of talent, you should sell it. I know a bunch of marine parks that would kill for some good photos of some marine animals in the wild but don't have the time or people to go get it themselves."

He stops for a bit, but just shrugs. "I figured that an artistic career wasn't going to work for me, you know. I'm not that talented, I'm just a guy with a camera and photoshop. Archaeology is something that will pay off for sure though." Even if it wasn't his main passion.

He nudged his cheek this time. "These are really good, and practically all artists use photoshop to do touch ups of their work anyway. I bet that if you offer some of these photos of just the fish or corals or the shark to the marine parks where I took the seahorses they'll pay you nicely."

He still smiles a bit at that prospective. It's not like he hasn't thought of making a career out of it, it's just that pressure to attend college, plus wanting to get the fuck away from his brother in some level kinda made it hard to bet on an unstable job. But now that he thought about it, it could be a reliable thing, as long as Eridan kinda supported him for the most part, which he was not comfortable with. "I'll show them the pictures then. Won't charge much for either of them if they want them though."

"They'll probably give you a price for the raw photos, and a slightly better one for the editted ones. They could probably edit their own, but sometimes they prefer others to edit for them." He kissed his temple. "I think t'd be good for you. Plus then you always have an excuse to come out here."

"You have to edit them, I'm not gonna show them the raw photos." He rolls his eyes. "Who do you think I am? I have to correct lights and values and all that fun stuff. Basically make it brighter." He nuzzled Eridan's shoulder, and kissed it.

"But the raw photos might look better to them. Show them how healthy whatever it is you've taken a photo of is. I dunno, I can ask if you want. See if they take photographs of the marine life around here."

"Clearly you haven't worked with pictures before. When I say brighten is like... think of girls who put on makeup. If you cake their face in makeup that is really bright, it will be pretty noticeable, but if you do the basic shit, it looks normal, and her skin is like. Even? I don't know what makeup does." He shrugs. "Point is, that the photoshop is the makeup. It isn't supposed to make it look unnatural, its supposed to make it look better. Except that, in this case, it's supposed to correct the light that the camera should have picked up in the first place. It didn't because it's a camera, not a perfect thing."

Especially for reefs and things like out here where they're either trying to keep it alive or just keeping an eye on it, they prefer un-photoshopped photos. Like, if you've got some rash or something weird on your face, you don't cover it with makeup when you go to the doctors do you?"

"That's a fair point. But I assumed you meant that they wanted them for like, those little informative boxes next to the habitats so that kids can read some shit, look at the picture and go "so that's what this shit is". But yeah, if they want documentation, then no photoshop would be applied."
