"I know a few, mainly poker and briscola, and go fish because john is ignorant when it comes to card games, but I'm a fast learner." He snickers, fixing his own hair a little, as it was starting to fall on his eyes.
"Do you know how to play briscola? I don't know that many people that can. It's an italian game, some people also call it 'bisca'."
2015-07-02 00:54:30 -
🌀
"Briscola? I've heard of it. Isn't it similar to klaviaas?" He tilted his head slightly, "never played. You should teach me. Does it use a standard 52-card deck? Or is it using a different deck?"
New games were always of interest to him, something to learn and be better in. And card games are a good source of entertainment regardless of company or not.
2015-07-02 01:00:52 -
●
"Yeah man, it is related to klaviaas. And you do use the 40-card deck. Or you can just play without eights, nines, jokers, and tens. It's nice, pretty easy to learn, we can give it a go right now if you have cards here"
2015-07-02 01:07:39 -
🌀
"Lemme check if i've got a deck lying around." He stood up, walking to the desk first and rummaging around through a few drawers, and then through the pile of papers littering the top. Finding none he ducked out into the lounge, coming back within minutes with a deck in his hand. "Found one. Okay, so how do we play?"
2015-07-02 01:21:33 -
●
"Let's go to the living room or something, you should have a table there." He says as he grabs the deck, already heading for said table he thought would be there. Dave started removing the eights, nines, tens, and the jokers, humming to himself, and took a seat on one side of said table. "Well, i was taught how to play by the portuguese rules, so that's how I'm gonna play. First things first, we're trying to get more points than the other, the ace is worth 11 points, the seven is worth 10 points, the king 4, the queen 3, and the jack 2, but I'll count those when we're done."
He grabs the deck, and does a quick job of shuffling it, before hand it to Eridan. "Cut it in two. and after you put one stack on top of the other, take the bottom card. That will be the briscola, which is the trump suit." He started, waiting for him to do it after he handed him the deck
2015-07-02 01:28:46 -
🌀
Eridan did as he was told, sitting opposite Dave and looking with interest. "You're gonna have to walk me through the first couple of games. I'll pick it up quickly once I know what I'm doing. Are we able to play open the first round?" He pulled the bottom card out and set it aside, still facedown for now, looking up at Dave.
2015-07-02 01:37:24 -
●
"Yeah sure, we can play open for a couple of rounds." He nods, smiling slightly.
"No problem, thats usually how people learn how to play cards anyway. And turn the card so that it's facing up, we need to know the trump. Also people are meant to play with three cards when it's just two people playing, but that's no fun, I like to play with seven cards." He hands him seven of them, all facing down, and takes seven for himself, placing them on the table so that they were facing upwards. "So, main rule if someone gets the two of spades after we hand out the first set of cards, they are forced to play it, otherwise, I guess I'll just start." He places a five of hearts on the table.
"So, if you have cards from the same suit that i played, you have to play them. Otherwise you can just play whatever, but you'll only win the round if you play a card from the trump suit. Other than that? It's pretty simple, a card is more valuable the higher it is on the "scale". As in, a three is better than a two. However keep in mind that the more important cards are, in order: ace, seven, king, queen, jack."
2015-07-02 01:47:19 -
🌀
Eridan settled into his seat, brows furrowed slightly as he listened. He turned the trump card over, glancing at it and back at Dave before looking at the seven cards handed to him. He turned them over to look, glancing up at Dave for help. No matter how good he was at memorising texts and documents and sayings, learning a game of cards took ages with him.
"So, if I have one of heatrts," which he did, a two, "I play it?" His fingers hovered over the card, looking at Dave.
"So it depends on what I play to get the points? Or what I've played once someone plays the same suit card to the trump?"
2015-07-02 01:52:05 -
●
He glances over at the briscola as well, that is a four of clubs. "Yes, that's it." He nodded. "And yeah, though you just get points with those five i mentioned, from ace to jack. Otherwise they're just cards that hold no value whatsoever. Do you have any other one of hearts?"
2015-07-02 01:54:11 -
🌀
He hummed his understanding, brow still furrowed as he spread his cards a bit to see. "No, just that one. Do we play in turns or whenever it's possible? Do we play a card every turn?" His fins were perked a bit in the face of the game, head tilted slightly as he took in the information.
2015-07-02 01:56:45 -
●
"You play in turns, a card per turn, and the first person to play in each round is the person that won the last round." He nods. He puts his card to the side, playing a seven of spades, seeing that Eridan has no spades. "See, i played a seven, that is worth 10 points. you have no cards of that suit, so you need to play something else, however, it would benefit you if you played the trump suit, as you'd keep 10 points to yourself already."
2015-07-02 01:58:53 -
🌀
"So something of clubs?" He had a jack of clubs, tucked next to the king of diamonds. "I can play this now an' win or? What wins a round? Just playing the trump suit or is it the one with the most points once a trump suit is played?" A hand full of diamonds an two clubs, that was his. He glanced at Dave again, looking for more instruction.
2015-07-02 02:01:21 -
●
He shook his head. "If you play the trump suit, which is clubs, and I haven't played it, then it's automatically your win. The trump card wins everything. You'd only lose if i played something above a jack, that was also of clubs. So with that, you have 12 points. Keep the cards, like, stack them up as you win them or someting. And now, you're the first to play."
2015-07-02 02:03:18 -
🌀
"Do we deal again, or just play to the last card." He played the jack regardless, neatly stacking the cards and placing them to the side for now. "Or do I use these now? Is the trump still clubs?" He dealt out a four of diamonds, looking at Dave carefully to watch his movements and how he played.
2015-07-02 02:10:34 -
●
"Yup, we take another card. After each round, you take another card, until we've used the whole deck, including the briscola. The trump will always be the same though." He takes one for himself, and hands Eridan one. Looking his cards over, he looks at his two of diamonds, and at his queen. "Now, see, I could play the queen and win, but i can also save it for later." Dave said as he placed the two on the table "And you have won nothing with this round, as the cards aren't worth shit."
2015-07-02 02:13:41 -
🌀
"So unless the card is worth something, neither of us win? An' if your card is higher than mine you win an' vice versa?" He was starting to get the hang of it, kind of. "So if I play this king of diamonds, an' you played your queen I'd win because the kings higher? But if you had the ace you'd win?" It was slowly making sense.
2015-07-02 02:17:21 -
●
"Yeah! See, you got the hang of it, that's it. Except like, you do win, you just dont get points" He nods, smiling at Eridan. He pushed the two cards in his direction. "Go head, keep them and play after you take a new card." Dave says as he grabs one for himself, adding it to the other six cards that were already on the table
2015-07-02 02:19:06 -
🌀
Eridan grinned at him, fins wiggling briefly before he took another card. He looked down at his cards and played a three of spades. "You mentioned something about the two of spades. Is that just a random thing or what?" He looked up as he waited for Dave's mood, glancing a the trump card.
2015-07-02 02:22:38 -
●
He glanced at his cards, humming a little, before playing the jack of spades. "You just have to play it in the first round, like, if after i give you the cards you look at them, and you see that you got the two of spades, you have to play it. If you get it a few rounds after, it doesnt matter, just more usless cards for you." He took the two cards, grabbing another one, and placing a seven of diamonds on the table
2015-07-02 02:24:27 -
🌀
"So it's just basically a useless problematic card. Does it have any use at all in the first round or is it just the lowest card in the game?" He grabbed another card, a six of diamonds, and placed it down on the table. "The game finishes once all the cards in the deck are gone, right?" He glanced at his cards again, chewing briefly on the corner of his lip before stopping.
2015-07-02 02:26:55 -
●
"It's not the lowest of the game, i mean, the twos of all suits are pretty useless, but it's just a rule i've learned. Some people like to change it up, and say that instead of the two of spades you have to play the queen of hearts, but i play with the two of spades." He placed a five of spades on the table. "It technically finishes once one person gets more than 60 points, as there are 120 in total, but who the fuck keeps count. So yeah, when the deck is gone."
2015-07-02 02:29:26 -
🌀
He nodded, frowning a bit at his cards. A queen of spades later and after a glance at Dave's cards, he drew again, turning the four of diamonds around to face them. "Do you play cards with your brother? Or just with your friends?" He glanced at Dave, raising an eyebrow slightly in curious question.
2015-07-02 02:32:14 -
●
"I play cards with a lot of people, my brother included. Do you know how much money i've won playing poker after class? Like, twenty dollars per game at the very least." He smiles proudly, taking a card, and placing a seven of diamonds on the table, and taking the cards.
2015-07-02 02:34:36 -
🌀
"I usually play solitaire a lot, because it's easy an' weirdly calming for me. I used to play joker with a few people from my old group, an' I played rummy an' cheat with a little social group before they decided I won too much an' told me to stop coming by. Haven't played with anyone since."
He placed down a four of diamonds, glancing over Dave's cards and then his own.
2015-07-02 02:38:14 -
●
"Would you be too offended if I told you i never learned how to play that?" He laughed a little, placing down a five of diamonds. "I always had people to play with, even if it was online, so it never made much sense for me to learn how to play it. Also damn your game sucks ass right now, you only have low cards. Feel ready for a real game, or you want to keep going for a while longer?"
