Eridan just looked at him. Brows furrowed slightly and lips thinned as he thought. "There's not really much point to me trying anyway. Most of all it'll just give me something to talk to when I'm out sailing, that's it. Fish never gossip. They don't see it as a good thing. You want gossip you go with dolphins. Assholes are always clicking here an' there. An' I know they talk about me, even if I can't understand them as well as fish." He shook his head, looking back at the fish.

"Well ill be there with you for that on your next trip, so you're right I suppose. I dont want a fish stealing my job over some gossip about that one filthy cod." He shrugged. Dave grins as he talks about dolphins though. "How do you know that? What have you heard them say about you?"

Eridan shrugged, reaching out to touch the glass again as he thought. "Like I said, I can't really understand them. Just the gist. The other seadweller I used to talk to, she seemed to always know what they talk about. She's different like that." He leaned a bit closer, studying the fish swimming in front of him. "Mostly it's just one or two words I understand, but I think they've been listening to her, or at least something like that. It's all rather... negative? Kind of? I don't really care though. It's not important anymore."

He could sense that the girl he was talking about probably did something to him, by the way he talked. It wasnt much, but he seemed to resent something. "I didnt evem know there were other sea dwellers here, you're the first one I talk to. But I guess so, i mean, you must have better shit to do than hear them yapping about someone you dont talk to anymore."

He let Dave make his own assumptions, pausing to grimace at the tank and school his expression back to something more neutral before looking at him again. "There's more landwellers than seadwellers here, true, since most of us prefer the water an' probably all live along the coast or lakesides or riversides. Somewhere with fresh water, dirty water fucks up our gills." He wrinkled his nose as if he's had experience with it before.
2015-07-01 05:22:49 -
●
Dave pressed his lips together, wrinkling his nose a bit. "But salt water? Or can it also you also live bt a river or something? Well anyway, again, none of my business. Sorry about that" he shrugs, looking around the room.
2015-07-01 10:04:47 -
🌀
"Well it all depends really." He turned to look at Dave, leaning against the tank glass. "Some seadwellers are more adapted to fresh water than salt, some live by bracken water, an' some, like me, are salties. We can all breath water, any water at all, it just feels a bit weird the first few days in different water. Its like... Its like writing with your opposite hand. You're absolutely shit at it for the first few days but do it long enough an' it's fine."
2015-07-01 10:16:47 -

"Oh, so rainwater sprinkling your gills must have felt particularly awkward." He felt a bit uncomfortable himself just from imagining it. "Which by the way im ambidextrous, so that analogy doesnt work very well on me." He glanced at Eridan briefly, but his attention was caught by the vast tank again, Dave trying to take in every little detail, though he didn't seem to manage. How many creatures were even in there?
2015-07-01 13:42:48 -
🌀
"Not so much awkward as much as stupidly annoying." He pulled a face, scrunching up his nose and his fins flapping once in remembered irritation. "When its just a light rain its not so bad, because I can't feel it through my clothes, but when it's a downpour like what we had a few days ago it's the worst. Gills got all irritated because of opening all the time against my clothes."
He shrugged and looked back at the tank. "I don't know any better analogy.
The fish had all swum out of their hiding places, hovering near the top as a ding sounded from a timer. He looked at Dave, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Do you wanna help me feed them? Might calm fussyfins down if all the food went in together."
2015-07-01 21:59:05 -
●
"That sounds like shit yo. Did it take too long for your gills to go back to normal?" He rubs the side of his own neck in reflex, as he is starting to feel a little uncomfortable just talking about having irritated gills. At the ding, he looked around a bit, trying to figure out where the timer and the fish food was. "Yeah, sure, just tell me how much of what I have to put in the tank. Or are they all labelled and shit so that you know?" He glances at said fussyfins, that is expectantly waiting for his food.
2015-07-01 22:02:24 -
🌀
"They're still a bit irritated now, see?" He pulled his scarf off, leaning his head to the side and showed the flushed violet edges of his gills. "Because of the stupid cold. Fucks up everything an' messes with my gills. They should go down in a few days though." He was pulling tubs of fish food out of the cupboard under the tank, handing a few to Dave. "There should be a little spoon in each, those ones only need one scoop each."
2015-07-01 22:20:07 -
●
He nods, taking a few of the tubes in his hands and checking them. "Are there any that don't have a spoon?" He didn't even check them all out to check if they all had a spoon, but better ask now. He starts out with the ones with a little spoon in them, trying to scoop up as much as he could without dropping everything back in the tube, and watching as the fish instantly swim towards the quickly sinking food, smiling a little. The fish seem to roughly know what is and isnt for them, except for one or two that still need to go and check. He does that with three tubes in a couple of seconds
2015-07-01 22:25:30 -

"Fussyfins an' the seahorses don't have spoons. I play by sight with how much they need, but someone-" he put emphasis and a slight scowl at the fish who appeared to be looking up at the food, "-is a fat bastard an' needs to lay off the food." True to his word, Eridan put less of that food in then he did with the rest. The seahorse food he put at the other end of the tank, moving around Dave and watching as the seahorses shyly slid between the grasses to eat.

He can't help but laugh at the way he talks about the fish, just smiling to himself as he finishes feeding them. "Well you're the one feeding him dude, it's kinda your fault." Dave then puts all the tubes away in the cupboard. He looks at Fussyfins to check if he is eating, because he has no clue which food is his, but he trusts he should be good now.
2015-07-01 22:46:09 -

"I've fed him the same amount every single time. I have no idea how he's gotten fat so either he's been eating other food or he's been eating rocks." He shook his head at the fish, placing all the food back in order in the cupboard. He stood back a bit to check over all the fish, a distracted sort of look to his face.
With a shake he turned back to Dave. "So. Sailing. Are you good for that Friday through to Sunday? After exams right?"
2015-07-01 22:56:49 -
●
"Last time I checked, fish weren't chicken, so rocks are out of the question." He found himself briefly wondering why there was different food for different fish, and why they didn't all eat each other's food, but he quickly got distracted from that same thought.
"Yeah I am, gonna get that gear tomorrow after the exam. Or, well, not get it, just talk to them and shit so that i can come pick it up by friday. Are you?" What a silly question, but it just popped out of his mouth before he could hold back.
2015-07-01 22:59:52 -
🌀
Eridan nodded, a smile on his face now as his thoughts turned to sailing. "Yeah I am. I've checked the weather for the weekend, I think I've told you this already, but it's strong enough winds for quick sailing on Friday. I usually set out around six in the morning, but if that's too early for you we can leave at seven. Also I've never sailed with someone else before, so if i get snappy or something it's because you're in my way an' I don't know what to do with someone else onboard. Nothing against you at all."
2015-07-01 23:16:43 -
●
Dave smiles back at him, turning away from the fish tank to be facing him now. "Nah man it's cool, six sounds good, I'll just have an early night. Shouldn't be hard after an exam anyway, I'll be more spent than a minimum wage pay check of a guy with 3 kids to feed at the end of the month. And I will try not to get in the way, but meanwhile you can tell me whatever the fuck I should do once I'm there, so that it doesn't happen. You know, like a simulation of sorts."
2015-07-01 23:21:05 -

"You'll have to meet me at the marina at around five, but if that's too much trouble just come by at ten to six an' I'll fill you in on a few quick things instead of everything before we set off." He smiled briefly, fins wiggling slightly to show his excitement. "Sabriel has cabins as opposed to bunks. She's a leisure boat, not a racer, so it's set out like mini cruise cabins, comfortable bed bunks in cabins an' lockers for clothes an' stuff. It's pretty comfortable. Do you get sea sick?"
2015-07-01 23:48:44 -
●
"Too much trouble? I just have to get my ass up and ready ten minutes before I head there, it's definitely not too much trouble. And that sounds awesome, sign me the fuck up." He nods in approval. Hell, it should be way better than his bedroom, if you ignore the fact that his turntables would be gone for a few days."I don't think I do. I mean, I haven't been on a boat in years, but, as I said, I don't remember puking my guts out as a kid." He shrugs. "I'll bring some pills for that in case I do get sea sick." He trusted there'd be something for that.
2015-07-01 23:54:25 -

He nodded, moving to sit on the edge of his bed because standing was getting boring. He gestured for Dave to take a seat in the wheelie chair next to the desk. "I'll be getting the back bunk, one because it's my boat an' by all rights I get the best bunk. Two, the front annoys me an' three because I said so. The front bunk should be enough room for you, I'll have to make sure there's enough blankets an' shit for you."
He reached down to grab a discarded notepad, flicking through a few pages and pulling a pencil from under the bed to make a note for himself. "Ginger tablets work best with seasickness. An' motion sickness in general really."
2015-07-02 00:07:39 -

Dave pulled the chair from the disk sitting on it backwards so that he could cross his arms on top of the back of the chair, resting his chin on top of them. "Sure, ain't about to question that. Why does the front annoy you though? And I can bring blankets, Bro keeps that shit stacked in the couch, like, three or four of them." He took the chance to look around his room a little better, noticing how neat it was compared to his own.
"Noted, I'll buy some. How ironic would it be for a seadweller to have seasickness though." He laughs a little, very softly, shaking his head to himself. "Just be prepared for endless card games, because I'm the shit at that."

"The anchor is located at the bow of the boat, an' it pisses me off 'cause I can hear it dragging an' creaking at night. At the stern I can't hear it as well an' I can block it out better." His room was a lot neater now than a week earlier. He'd tided it a few days ago, instead of studying and sleeping.
"Pretty amusing. Amusing an' completely stupid in thought." He grinned, sharp teeth flashing briefly, "I'm good at card games. You're gonna get your ass whooped right round the island in cards Dave. Ever played joker? Joker is fun."

"Oh I getcha. That's fine, I sleep like a rock through the night. Like, unless someone walks into my room, or does something to the door, I'll be sleeping until I need to piss. Amusingly enough, noises that are outside the room don't fuck with my sleep. Not too hard to wake me up if you need me though."
"Oh you're going down man, I'm hella good at card games. Yeah I know how to play joker." He smirked a little, rotating the chair slightly left and then right, not moving too much.

"How about cheat? Ezel? Old maid? Double patience? How many card games do you know Dave?" His grin was just as smug, fins flicking in amusement. "Speed?" Card games were always a good source of entertainment to him, even if it was just playing solitaire.
"I have a deck onboard, an' an old chess set." He grinned, pulling one leg up to rest on the bed as he looked at Dave.
