Which turned out to be an hour, and when he woke he was all tense. But he looked up at Dave and managed to relax enough not to wake him.

Eridan wanted to kiss him all over again, but he also wanted to just watch how relaxed and calm he looked, so he settled for resting his head on his chest (he had to shuffle down a little) again and just listened to his heartbeat.

Eridan had shut his eyes by then, and when Dave mumbled whatever he mumbled, he just reached up with a hand to cup his cheek and lazily stroke at his skin with his thumb.

He swallowed the saliva that had accumulated in his mouth while he was sleeping, and leaned into the touch, looking down. "Up already? Slept well?"

He nodded in reply to his question, tilting his head back enough to look at him and smiled. "Was only out for a bit. Sleeping's still hard."

He then pecked him between his eyes, holding Eridan against him, though he was free to move. "I'm lowkey proud of making you fall asleep."

Eridan gladly cuddled closer, still purring a little. He was going to get a sore throat at this rate. "Yes yes gold star and all that." He teased.

Eridan reached up a hand, smirking a little cockily as he felt around the back of the couch until his fingers hit a piece of paper with lamination on it. A sheet of actual little gold star stickers that had fallen out of one of his books and he hadn't bothered to bring it back. He pulled one off, and stuck it Dave's cheek. "There you go."
