Eridan scribbled down his trollian handle as well as a second thought. "We'll just do basics an' explorin' then. Knots are easy to learn, you can practice them on anythin' really. I know of a few websites that show step by step how to do them, so if you wanna one up yourself on learnin' somethin', go with knots."
He smiled at Dave, looking pretty excited over the prospect. "I'm actually lookin' forward to this."

"Knots it is then, it can't be that hard. I'm no scout boy but still." He smiles back at the seadweller, fiddling with the note where Eridan wrote. "Me too. Thanks for offering, honestly, I'm pretty grateful for it." As he says this, he catches a glimpse of the window, noticing that the rain has stopped. "I don't think you'll want to move away from the heater, but just informing you that there is no longer a sky-waterfall from satan outside."

Eridan glanced out of the window. He reached for his scarf, feeling that it was now thankfully dry and quite pleasantly warm. He wrapped it around his neck, slightly more at ease with his gills out of sight. "I would'na offered if I didn't think you'd enjoy or benefit from it." He gathered up what he'd taken out of his bag, closing it and leaving it to the side for now. "Have I paid for everythin' I've ordered?" He couldn't remember, too caught up in other things.

Dave checks his notes, to see if he had crossed out the amount or not, but there it was, untouched. "Just the second order, that is 4.20$." He says as he smiles a little, thinking of how nice it would be wearing it outside. "Is your friend already out of class?"
2015-06-20 10:17:19 -

Eridan had to check both his pockets and the bottom of his bag for change, cursing that he'd left the small pile of coins that had been lying on the kitchen counter in his flat this morning. He handed over the small change, smiling a bit.
He checked his phone, furrowing his brows briefly in annoyance. "He said I have to find my own way back. He never went to his class. Lazy asshole."
2015-06-20 10:22:49 -
●
He was pretty ready to help him out with the change, but seems like he somehow has the amount. "Alright then, your debt is settled." Dave crossed out the price on the notebook, nodding to himself and putting it away. He was already getting ready to go back when he said that. "I can take you home. It's not even my shift, im just working to pass the time, but my apartment is close like a block away, so I could get a hold of my bro's car."
2015-06-20 10:26:31 -

"I live a few blocks that way." He nodded out the window down the left of the street, watching as it continued to lightly drizzle. "If it's not too much trouble f' you then that'd be highly appreciated. The rain looks like it's about to start up within the half hour, an' knowin' my luck it'll be within a block of here." He scowled out the window at the sky as if that would hold the rain for another hour. "I can walk but a lift would be great."

He nods, getting a hold of his tray once more, along with the mug and plate, the change in his other hand. "Just wait a minute so that I can get ready, won't take long."
He starts walking back to the cashier, quickly checking if it was the right amount of money, and after he paid for Eridan's order, he warned one of his co-workers that he was going to leave. Making a quick job at putting his stuff away, the Strider replaces his apron with a leather jacket, and gets a hold of his still slightly wet book bag, letting it sling over his shoulder.
"Alright, I'm ready to roll." He announces after he walked over to the table again. He gestured towards the door with his head. "Ready to go?"
2015-06-20 10:36:39 -
🌀
Eridan was already standing with his bag slung over his shoulder and arms crossed across his chest. His jacket was not yet fully dry, and he stood with his back to the heater to soak up as much heat as he could before Dave came back.
He nodded his head, not moving for a minute before sighing and pulling the damp jacket on. Damp jacket is still better than no jacket. "yeah, Where to?" He waited for Dave to step out of the coffee shop first, slipping through the door after him and bundling his scarf around his neck more securely.

'To the right, over there." He points with a nod of his head. "It might be a good idea for you to stay by the main entrance while I go fetch the keys when we get there, though. I live in the last floor and there is no elevator there. I take it that walking up a fuckton of stairs only to walk back down right after you get there isnt your idea of fun, but if it is, be my guest."
They crossed the street so that they could start walking over in that direction, Dave's hands jammed in his semi-warm pockets to keep them from freezing. There werent many people on the street, which made it easy to walk side by side.

"It'll warm me up some instead'a standin' around in the cold." He shivered slightly as the wind blew through them. He tugged his jacket around himself tighter, mournfully noting that maybe it was time to get a new jacket. This one was just getting too thin to be worn in shit weather. Great, now he'll have to go throw tonnes of stores to find a fabric that won't irritate his gills and skin.
The lower half of his face was tucked into his scarf as they walked, one hand clutching the strap of his bag and the other in his pocket twisting his ring around and around.

Dave had to zip up his jacket, shivering slightly due to how different the environments were, but aside from that, he was fine. He wasn't sure if having cold blood gave him more resistance to the cold or less, but the biology class was pretty done for when the trilobite talk stopped, so he decided he'd probably just google that when he got home.
By the time they got there, the rain started to get a little heavier, making Dave rush for the building, not wanting to get wetter than it need be, and quickly opened the door, letting Eridan in first, and then himself, sighing in relief. Dave looks over at him, and then at the stairs, moving his fingers in his pockets to make sure they didn't fell asleep. "Alright, here's the fun part."
2015-06-20 11:00:22 -
🌀
Eridan was grumbling softly by the time they got into the building, rubbing his fingers together in an attempt to keep them from going numb. He looked up at the building as they walked in, raising an eyebrow. He looked to Dave as he spoke, rubbing at his arms now in an attempt to gain feeling back in them.
"The fun part? As in I'm gonna beat your ass in runnin' up countless flights of stairs in an effort to stay warm kin'a fun?"
2015-06-20 11:05:33 -
●
He grinned, clutching his bag's strap in his hand now. "Is that a challenge, Eridan? Because Striders aren't slow at all. But I'll humour you, sure."
Soon they were running up the flights of stairs, Dave out running him, but trying not to go too fast to still keep him in sight, smirking like a little kid that knows something you don't

Eridan wasn't even trying yet. He was curious as to just how fast the Strider could run, head tilted slightly as they bolted up stairs. A glance up the staircase and he grinned. Dave never said there were any rules to how they were running. And Eridan could already tell that he wasn't just running. His legs were moving too weirdly for that.
He let out a laugh, jumping up onto the railing and leaping in bounds up and up through the center of the staircase. There was just enough of a gap for him to fit, head tilted just so his horns didn't catch on anything as he made it to the top in no time, grinning like a wriggler in a cookie tin.

His eyed widened slightly at that, but he just grinned, taking it as a challenge. He stepped his game up, full on flash stepping his way through the flights of stairs, curious to see if he could out run him.
Alas he didn't manage, he did however make it there a couple of seconds later, smirking. "You cheated dude, not even fair." He says with a small laugh, walking past him to open the door, panting lightly. Flash stepping usually took a lot out of him, so he tried not to do it often, unless of course he wanted to show odd to a certain troll.

"You were doin' some weird ass step thing! That's more cheatin' than me. I just took use of what I had around me." Eridan was radiating smugness, lips curled up in a smirk and fins flicking in an amused sort of way. He was a bit impressed by how quickly Dave made it up the stairs.
"How did you do that though? Never seen anythin' like it, an' I've seen some pretty impressive things before." He followed Dave through the door, head tilted curiously.
2015-06-20 11:21:12 -

"Well I took use of what i can do, while you werent quite running, just climbing." He grins, letting Eridan walk in with him. "It's called flash stepping. My bro says I was born with it, just like him, so ask my genetics, I have no clue.
His living room was small but welcoming, Bro being sprawled on the couch in only sweatpants as he watched some cartoon. He looks up, raising a brow slightly. "Sup squirt, who's yer friend?"
Dave glances over at him, and then at Eridan. "Eridan, this is Bro, Bro, this is Eridan. Just dropping by to grab the truck's keys and get him home. It's raining again."
He sighed a little, but nodded. "And don't you dare take the motorcycle if it's raining, i'll check which keys you took." He warned, Dave shrugging as he gets a hold of the car keys. "Sounds good. I'll be back in a while."
2015-06-20 11:27:56 -
🌀
"Back off I was runnin' as I climbed. I was makin' excessive use of my legs either way." Eridan stuck his tongue out at the back of his head, footsteps light as he walked in. "An' I'm not askin' your genetics. What even Dave. You're tellin' me you're not the least bit interested in why you can "flash-step" an' haven't looked up on it?" He added in the appropriate air quotations, looking at him with an eyebrow raised.
At the introduction he merely nodded at him, not seeing the need to speak verbally. It wasn't required, therefore he didn't. Simple.
He was quiet through the exchange, fins flicking this way and that at the noises from around the apartment. The drain was squeaky, he could hear it from here.

"It isn't like I can just google 'how to flashstep' or something, as far as I know it's a pretty new thing, otherwise we'd be hearing about people actually being like flash and shit all over the news. We're just born like this." He says ad he walks back out, having dropped his book bag beside the couch before he did.
"If you can find something, great, if not I wouldnt be surprised. I've just accepted it." Dave starts walking back down the stairs, glancing at Eridan as he spoke.

"Have you checked troll records? Mutations an' shit occur here an' there throughout lines an' bloodtypes. Maybe there's somethin' similar to your flash-steppin' in records from my kind." He looked thoughtful as they started to descend the stairs. "I'm just curious. It's a neat trick, an' you obviously use it a lot."
"... Do you spar with your brother? There were a shit tonne a blades around the place from what I saw. Plus he appeared to be holdin' one when you walked in. It was gone by the time I looked again." He sounded only curious, not as though he were prying,
2015-06-20 11:49:53 -
●
"Not really, I haven't thought about that. It's a good idea though, i'll give it a try. Aren't most of your mutations shit like psionics and controlling minds though?" He didny bother using it again, it wasnt worth it.
"Mh? Yeah, he's the one that taught me. And those are the shitty ones, they're crap, the one i strife with is in my bedroom. It wouldn't surprise me if he was planning on sparring by the time I got back, we do that a lot." Bro didn't have as many scars as Dave, as he was still better than him with a blade, but Dave didn't do much to hurt him either.
2015-06-20 11:55:26 -

"Well yeah, but some weird ones have popped up occasionally. I only know Sol an' Vris to have a "techincally valid" mutation. Sometimes mutations are just visual defects an' stuff. Like Rezi an' her fuckin' weirdass eyes. Blind eyes shouldn't go red, at least not as bad as hers." He frowned and shrugged.
"Why would he leave shitty swords lyin' around. For shits an' giggles?" Eridan looked almost put-out, insulted over the idea.
2015-06-20 12:00:50 -
●
Dave rises a brow. "Red eyes? Where I come from we call that a pretty bad infection." He said light heartedly, smirking a little wider. "But that's probably it. Was she born blind or something? Because they turning red after she got blind is pretty fucking weird."
He shrugs yet again. "Probably to keep me on my toes. He stuffs those in cupboards and shit, the fridge too sometimes. Or because he thinks they're cool, I haven't arrived to a decent conclusion." It was pretty clear that Dave didn't tend to question his brother.
2015-06-20 12:05:51 -

"I didn't push it. She kept cacklin' about some law thing. She loves human law. So many more loopholes an' everythings apparently." Eridan shrugged, glancing at Dave as they walked. "For an eye to go red like that, full red, whatever wound that made her blind would've had to be nearly brain deep. I couldn't see nor tell any signs of a wound around her eyes, or her head in general, so either she hatched like that or it's just a slight mutation of her genetic system."
Eridan just scoffed, fins twitching at the strangeness of it all.
