Eridan lifted his head at that, surprise clear on his features as he stared at Dave. "Really? You... Me? Like, proper love or I like you a lot love?" The same went for him, sort of. Dave was at least the first human he properly, solidly fell for.

"Proper love. Like, it isn't a sort of "they're neat but i just want to hook up" type of deal. I mean, of course, it kinda was something like that at first, you were cool, you were there, that was that, but then it kinda... evolved? I'm gonna go with that."

He smiled, he had to. He just couldn't after hearing that. "It was sort of the same for me, but i think i fell quicker than you did. You were just too attractive and nice for my poor black heart." He kissed him slowly, smiling.

He smiled back as they kissed, feeling a bit relieved to have told him that. It was something very personal, so he just kinda had to though. "I don't think I've missed out on anything, like, when people say you gotta give your firsts to the people you love. I'm pretty okay with just giving them away. But it's definitely different being with you. It's better, in my opinion."

He nodded, pressing a kiss to the corner of his lips. "If I were any more a coward I would've missed this. And now that I've got you I really don't want to let go. You're too good for me, too kind for me but fuck do I love you."

Eridan nuzzled close, fins giving a little wiggle briefly. He gently traced his fingers over Dave's arm, tracing little patterns.

He decided to trace a small heart on the back of his neck, just for the sake of reminding him of what happened on the boat.

As the prophecy said, Dave did fall asleep. Very sneakily, and very calmly, as if he didn't want Eridan to know, but sure enough he was sleeping.

Eridan didn't know that Dave was asleep until he looked up at him to ask a question. He smiled at the sight, pressing a featherlight kiss to his jaw before settled down again.

It was a very light sleep, and he tried to turn around once, only half sleeping, so he made himself wake up after that ridiculous attempt.

Eridan hushed him quietly when he woke up, cuddling closer. He was acting almost like a blanket on Dave, spread out over him and limbs loose and relaxed as he chilled.

He hummed in content, and pressed his face against Eridan's neck to get away from the light. He didn't fully wake up, so he could easily fall back asleep with some time.

Eridan nuzzled his temple, purring contently as he stretched and resettled. One hand moved to gently stroke and fiddle with Dave's hair.

He was doing the human version of purring, making that delighted little sound at the back of his throat for a few seconds when he was feeling nice.

He nuzzled his neck, yawning.

His fins wiggled at that and he grinned a little. He loved that noise. It's now one of his favourite noises ever. He kissed his temple, smiling as he closed his eyes and resumed the hair petting.

He took a deep breath, but a few seconds later, he was back asleep, and would remain like that until someone or something woke him up.

Eridan smiled when Dave fell asleep again, shifting a little and tucking the nearest blanket tighter around them both.

What ended up being the thing that woke Dave up wasn't Eridan, but the sound of the wind whistling through the rigging of the mast as it blew steadily harder. Not enough to be annoying, but definitely enough to be heard.

He opened his eyes, eyebrows slightly furrowed since the noise was disturbing his sleep, and whined against Eridan's neck, nuzzling it more as if it could make him get away from the sound.

Eridan tugged the blanket over their heads, pressing a kiss to his forehead and cuddling his close. He murmured to him softly, as though that would take away the noise.
