"Well, she was with Zane when she had to feed the first time, so that little scene was avoided. But only just barely."

"And how long ago was that?"

"Maybe, like, four months? Three and a half?"

"/Exactly./ No vampire lives that long without a drop of blood."

"Even new vampires don't go that long."

"It still doesn't make sense to me. She has no business being a vampire, and I don't think Lance is the forcing type from what Kinsley told me."

"I have no idea. If you really want to know, ask Seculus, he's been hanging out with her way too much and he's nosy as Easter Island."

"I will make sure to do that. Something about this doesn't seem right."

Once I calmed down, I realized that I had simply hidden my wings, supposedly while or after I had the vision in the church. And it made sense. I didn't deserve them, after all, how could I be angelic with a history like /that/? The only good thing that had come out of this was that I could now return to work. Perhaps that would lead to Tassek being a little less cruel, since I could help pay rent. First, however, I was simply taking a walk for the sheer sensation of not being stared at wherever I went. Then Russell appeared. Or Raven, whatever it is he goes by now. I swear, it's like he can sense me. "How's Pluto?" "...well. I've been taking good care of her, I think." "Great! I'm going to go meet Kinsley. Wanna come?" It didn't seem like I had much of an option either way, but going to see Ivory did sound...preoccupying. Maybe I could ask for her advice about the vision. Kinsley came down curiously when we entered as he sensed another angel and smiled briefly at me before turning his attention to Russell. "Hello?" "Kinsley, right?" "Yes. And you must be...Raven?" "Yep. You better not have broken my Rayney's heart yet." "I don't believe I have, unless by saying 'yet' you're implying that you want me to do so in the future." While they had their awkward introductions, I wandered upstairs to Ivory's room and tapped on the doorframe when I saw the door was open.

Ivory typed away at her keyboard, working on her current commission. Some rich girl in high school didn't want to do her senior research paper, and was offering her $200 to get it done. Oh well. Easy topic. Money is money. She wasn't going to ask questions. She was a bit in her own world at the moment, and almost didn't hear the knock on the door frame. Then she turned around, smile on her face. "Oh hey Seculus, I didn't-" she became unable to finish her sentence for a moment upon noticing that the feathers were missing. "...Did your wings get cut off again?" She asked.

Well, at least I didn't have to say yes. I shook my head. "I just...figured out how to hide them. Sort of."

Her smile returned, and she stood up. "Well that's good. I told you that you could do it."

Right. This was something I'd wanted to do a few months back. What had changed? ....well, for one, I wanted to do it voluntarily. And I wanted to know how to get them /out/ again. I didn't really smile back at her, much as I hated to ruin her good mood. "Unfortunately, the circumstances were not the best, and I have no idea how to unhide them."

"Oh dear, that is a problem. Especially long term. Lance is hanging out with Cale right now, but when he comes back I'll make sure he teaches you how to solve that problem."

"Brilliant. More motivation." I moved over to the bed and gestured to it. "May I?"

"Go right ahead. Make yourself at home." She moved over to her desk chair and sat down.

I sat down and folded my hands, leaning my elbows on my knees. She seemed to be in the middle of something. ......maybe I shouldn't have bothered her. "You aren't too busy, are you...?"

●
She glanced back at her computer for a moment. "That can wait." She answered. "I"m never too busy for you."

Oh, that's...well, sweet. I smiled slightly, then remembered what I wanted to talk to her about and it immediately disappeared. "...thank you. There's something I saw, at the same time I inadvertently hid my wings. I wasn't sure if...I mean, Lance said I wasn't quite the same, but..." I'm fairly certain this sort of thing makes her uncomfortable. So by that logic, I shouldn't tell her. But I needed some sort of consolation that I really /wouldn't/ do something like that. So I should. Shouldn't. Should! /Shouldn't/. I SAID SHOULD, SO THAT'S WHAT I'M DOING!

I'm getting my way, imbecile. You don't know what you're doing. You never have. "......it appears Seth had....sex....with someone else's girlfriend....in the confessional booth at his father's church." Just thinking about it made the heat rise in my face again, and I began wringing my hands.
