The box shook a little, but didn't break. The person inside slowly managed to push himself up onto his hands and knees and turned to stare at them. He looked defeated and broken, and tearstains and bruises marked his face. He saw who it was and pounded his fists weakly against his side, sobbing. Madison picked up his axe and swung at the container. It bounced off like a toy hammer.

A very small crack appeared where she hit. Ren was digging through their pockets of supplies, trying to find out if they had some sort of bomb or something similar that could crack it open without hurting him.

The crack grew slightly. He began hitting it from the other side in order to help, but nothing happened.

It made audible sounds of breaking and he backed away so he wouldn't be covered in shards of glass if it did eventually shatter.

Madison hit the weakened spot with his axe again, and Ren threw their shoulder against it. The cracks spread, almost to the entirety of the outward-facing side.

Ivory gave it one last punch, and the rest of it shatter. There was the sound of blood dripping. She looked down. In this attempt, she managed to bloody her knuckles, with shards of glass sticking out of them. Not enough to kill her, so that didn't matter. She rushed towards Seculus, and threw her arms around him.

Seculus slumped against her and cried hard into the collar of her dress. Madison shoved aside jagged edges with the blunt side of his axe and moved into the box, bending down to put his hands on Ivory's and tug the glass out, healing the wounds with his sparks in the process.

He tried to hug her back, but it hurt too much and his arms were too weak, so they remained limp at his sides. Madison crouched beside them and pressed the back of his fingers to Seculus's cheekbone. The bruises started to fade.

She pulled him into her lap as Madison healed him., holding him close. "Everything is going to okay, alright? We'll find out what happened."

He tried to apologize but it came out as a squeaky rasp. He'd spent hours screaming, but nothing could be heard outside the glass, even if there was someone else around. Madison lifted his arm and turned it over. The fabric of his sleeve was sliced to ribbons and stained red. But somehow, it didn't look like they were his doing. They began to disappear as well.

He buried himself in her arms again and went silent, just crying. Ren returned with another blanket from the bed and draped it over Seculus's shoulders.
