Ren appeared behind him with a blender in their hands, teeth bared and expression relieved but horrified. "I-is Madi dead? Are you hurt? He slapped you!"

It took longer, but his head unfroze, and his eyes went half-lidded while the rest of him thawed out. His breathing was shallow, and Ren tried to hold him up.

"You need to get out too. Come on--" Together they got Madison over to the blocked door. He managed to get a few steps in for himself and his eyes focused a little.

They pulled him out the door and kept going. Maybe if Seculus couldn't find them...they made sure Ivory was following behind, and shut them all in a bedroom. The curtains were drawn on the balcony, blocking out the sunlight.

Ivory hunched over, and panted for breath. Running in a corset was not something you should do. She looked around. Seculus's room. She closed her eyes and continued panting. "Oh, how ironic."

Ren sat Madison down on the bed and wrapped him in the top comforter. He'd started shivering violently, but was finally aware enough for actual conversation. "Wh-wh-what did -- wh-what d-did he d-do to you?"

Ren noticed what she was doing and went to the balcony curtains. "...we can't start a fire, maybe drying off in the sun will--" Instead of an opening to a crystal railing overlooking the garden, behind the curtains was an alcove in the wall, where a tall glass box sat nestled between the edges of the crystal corners. Someone lay huddled inside in a ball facing away from them, white outfit and sparkling pieces of silk in tatters.
