He decided that facing it now was probably better than facing it when he didn't have a Dave to cling to.
His grip tightened agin, and he buried his face into the crook of his neck as he forced himself to go over the dream and methodically store it in a place he wont ever remember. Hopefully.
The only problem was, it made him want to cry.

Dave was a bit surprised by the sudden right grip, but held him closer nevertheless. "It was just a dream." He muttered, squeezing his hand a bit. "It will never happen."

He didn't really hear him, too far into pushing the stupid useless frightening dream as far from his mind as possible. He squeezed his hand in return, eyes tightly shut.
This had to be the worst decision ever he can't even push it away all he can see is /blood/.
He whined softly, forcing his eyes open again and pulling away from Dave to go to the kitchen. His excuse would be a glass of water but he really just needed to dry his eyes before Dave could see.
Stupid useless dreams and their anxiety pulling points of irrationality.

Dave watched him go to the kitchen, and sighed softly. He grabbed his phone to send a text.
"Hey, lalonde, so how exactly would you go about calming down from a nightmare? not talking about zombie apocalypse kind of thing, more of an... emotional thing. traumatic, even." Better ask rose.

He ended up resting his head on the counter top, pulling at his fins and giving himself a Very Stern Talking to over the prospect of fucking /crying/ over something useless like a /dream/.
He's supposed to strong dammit. Mentally strong so that no one will ever get to him ever again but it just hurts.
What if one day he ended up accidentally hurting Dave?
"It depends on what sort of nightmare."
"Did you have a nightmare Dave? I'm quite certain I wouldn't be the one you'd talk to about it but I'm all ears if it improves whatever state it's put you in."
2015-09-21 04:20:06 -
●
"something like that. it involved um.. somehow i killed someone i cared for in the dream. it was pretty visual."
2015-09-21 04:24:24 -
🌀
"Were you a direct reason for their death or just a watcher whose decision resulted in their death?"
"I would suggest finding the person you care for and just reassure yourself that they're alive. Generally, being able to see that one's safety is obvious and the surrounding area is a safe environment should calm you down from a nightmare."
"You're going to have to give me more information to work with Dave, if I am to help you further."
"All I can say so far is to just find some way of comfort for yourself and distance yourself from whatever may have caused the nightmare."
"Perhaps you are spending too much time in one area, or focusing too much on one thing and its becoming an unknown stress to you and intruding on your sleep state."
2015-09-21 04:28:54 -
●
"yeah, i did say i killed them. what if Ive already done that but im still not okay though."
"i cant think of anything that might have made this happen. you know, a guy is just chilling then suddenly your brain wants you to kill someone in a dream. not cool."
2015-09-21 04:33:42 -

"If you've done reassurances then I can only suggest a distraction of some kind that would require you to use your brain. In your case, mixing would probably help you."
"I haven't yet required the knowledge that lets me fully understand the workings of the human brain. The study is, however, quite fascinating and many an experiment goes by where I am not intrigued by the knowledge presented to me."
"Your brain has probably found something that would trigger your protective streak or an anxiety inducing dilemma and promptly twisted it to make it worse."
2015-09-21 04:36:35 -

A distraction of some sort... what does Eridan like to do that involves full concentration?
"probably. Ill hit you up if my brain is still freaking out after that"
"thanks lalonde."
He gets up to go check on Eridan, putting his phone away.
2015-09-21 04:42:49 -
🌀
"You're welcome. If whatever you find caused you to dream such a thing is exceedingly absurd or interesting do tell. I might find it interesting."
Eridan had moved to sit down on the floor once he'd succeeded with wiping away most of his tears. He had a glass of water in his hands, but had yet to take a sip from it. He looked up once he heard Dave enter.

Dave sat down next to him, sighing slightly when he looked at Eridan. His eyes were puffy, and he had some tear stains on his cheeks, despite his best effort to wipe them away. "Hey."
2015-09-21 04:50:09 -
🌀
"Hey."
He kept turning the glass around and around in his hands, watching the water inside slowly rotate with the glass. "Would you like something to drink? There's still apple juice here for you."

"I'm fine, thanks for offering." He smiles very softly. "Do you want to go play some games and get your mind off of this whole thing? We can order chinese takeaway like the other time."
2015-09-21 04:58:42 -
🌀
He hesitated, "Can I watch you play a game instead?" He finally looked up at him, hoping that his face wasn't as tear-evident as he thought it was. "I don't... I don't want to do anything. I'm not hungry either. You can order something if you want to."
2015-09-21 04:59:51 -
●
"Of course you can, that's fine." It was hard looking at his face that nearly shouted 'I was crying and the only thing they gave me were shitty tear stains' and not say anything, but if he knew Eridan at least a little, he knows that pressing the matter will do everything but help.
"I'm fine too, maybe ill order a pizza later or something though." He gets up, and offers him a hand to help Eridan stand. "Which game do you want to see me play?"
2015-09-21 05:04:19 -
🌀
He wiped his face again quickly, noting how Dave's face seemed to have gone sympathetic and just knew he still had traces of tears. "I'm okay." He said, trying to convince them both that he'd only been crying because he stubbed his toe on something. Yeah, that's it.
"I don't mind. You can choose whatever." He took his hand, but pulled himself up instead of being pulled up.
2015-09-21 05:06:43 -

If he was okay, Eridan wouldn't be sitting on the kitchen floor while crying. He did want to say that, but Dave's decided to be thoughtful.
"Alright then, how about tekken? I'll win some rounds in your honour oh my Prince." He tries to joke, smiling slightly as he walks to the living room
2015-09-21 05:12:38 -
🌀
"How kind of you." He follows him, and tries to force himself out of the slump he was now in. He knew he wasn't even tolerable company like this, and wanted to hurry up and be at least slightly normal before Dave got sick of dealing with him and went home for the day.
2015-09-21 05:14:28 -

Dave sets up the game, now also trying to get his mind off how upset Eridan was, and plopped down on the couch with a controller. "Ready to see me kick ass in my full glory?"
2015-09-21 05:21:49 -
🌀
"If you fail I'm taking away your aj privileges?" He settled next to him, sitting almost awkwardly before just inching a little closer and curling up against his side. He made sure that Dave was still able to move if he wanted to. He just wanted the comfort.
2015-09-21 05:24:59 -
●
He snickers a little, wrapping an arm around Eridan. He reminded him of Jake right now. "Thats a bit harsh, I'll be trying my best."
2015-09-21 05:28:03 -
🌀
He curled up against his side, but somehow eventually ended up with his head in his lap. Dave's hands were resting on his head, and he didn't mind one bit. "If harsh is what I need to provoke you into doing your absolute best than I shall do harsh. Besides, it would've only been for like an hour or two."
2015-09-21 05:29:47 -
●
"Hmm alright then. But I'd advise the Prince to cheer for me if it is my absolute best he wants." He smiles down at him, but soon looks up to start a round.
2015-09-21 05:34:17 -
🌀
"Not sure if cheering is in my vocabulary, but whatever pleases you." He at least tried to put some emotion into his default 'defend from the world' monotone voice. He wasn't too sure if he was doing too well, but settled to watch the screen aimlessly as Dave kicked ass.
