"Aw Jake no. If we let Dave have many he'll eat them all! Then what are we gonna have?" His fins drooped almost comically and yeah, he was basically using it to win Jake back in his favour but whatever.

"Uuuuh, uuuuuuuh." He seemed truly conflicted now. "You can't eat them all, that would be mean!" He whines a little. "You can eat a... what's the three version of a half?" He looks at his grandma for support. "A third, dear."

Jake looked so confused. "I, um... I..." Dave flicked a piece of paper at Eridan. "Stop being a jerk, you're confusing Jake." He rolls his eyes with a soft smile. "He knows what he meant, don't you?" Jake nodnodnods.

Jake laughed softly, nodding at Eridan's words. "Absolutely!" Dave decides to ignore how that means all of them wont get their fair share, because he doesn't want the cute bean to turn into a confused cute bean.

"Alright you meaners, I got it" He says with a smile.

He grinned at him, fins wiggling. He was still bouncing Jake on his knee, one hand supporting him in case he jostled the wrong way or so.

He wasn't sure what time it was now, but didn't really care much. It wasn't like he had anything to do today anyway.

Jake smiles happily. He's going to be a little dizzy once he stands. "Why are you so big?" He asks after a bit. Kids often ask the stupidest of questions or the smartest of questions that no one really knows the answer to.

"But it's fun!" He makes little horns with his fingers, giggling.

He was quick to stop that shit right in its tracks. "It's actually not fun. It's really painful when someone hits your horns. It's like... Hitting your hip on the corner of the table or having your hair pulled really really hard. It's not fun at all."

"It really hurts. Even if it's a little hit, it feels like a pupy biting your ears or so." He nodded seriously, tipping his head down and sideways so he could point at a small groove on his horn. "Plus you get horn scars from it, and those hurt even more."

"We can fight with horns if we really really have to. But if you hit a troll's horns hard enough, you can out them out of a fight in a heartbeat. Animal horns are made of different stuff. They're more bone, and dont have as many nerve endings."

"All the better for biting." He grinned, baring his teeth a little. "Almost as sharp as a shark's." He glanced at Dave, grinning in amusement.

"Did you know he got bit by a shark? Sharkception." Jake gasped in surprise. "The shark bit his hand." He immediately looked over. "Wow, you're so cool. I bet you go on cool adventures and-and, and you kick butt, and you explore things, and you are SO cool!!" He was amazed. Eridan was forever his favourite real life person.

Eridan did not understand at all how to take this sudden admiration. His fins wiggled wildly and he kicked at Dave's shin lightly under the table. "It was nothing really. The shark, it was only a baby one, it was stuck in a net and it bit me as I was freeing it." He looked hopelessly overwhelmed by the sudden admiration in Jake's eyes and glanced at Dave in a clear 'HELP ME WWHAT DO' move.

Dave grinned when Jake started just babbling about how that was even cooler, and smiles softly at Jake. "Guess you took my cool guy spot huh."

"I want to be like you when I grow up!" He grins, his eyes wide with interest. "On summer me and Nana go to this really cool island, and we grow pumpkins, and she teaches me science-y stuff, and its really cool. Have you ever been to an island?"

"He sailed us there." Eridan was stuck trying to figure that out. And the kid was only getting more and more impressed.
