He didn't move much when he slept, so he was in the exact same position that he fell asleep in. His gills made little noises as he breathed, tiny glubs and soft whooshes of his breath escaping through occasionally.

Dave woke up earlier than Eridan that day, surprisingly. Even he was amazed at that.

He looks down, smiling a little at the sight, and very slowly tried to get out of bed without waking him up.

He made a little whining noise as he pulled away, fingers catching on his arm as he moved away. He didn't wake up, just shifted and tried to subconsciously cling to the warmth as it moved away.

He bit his lip, definitely wanting to cling to Eridan as well, but he had other plans in mind.

After slipping away, Dave tucked him in gently, and wrote a post it note that read "I'll be back with breakfast", before quickly going out to go get said breakfast.

He cuddled up to the blankets now instead, fingers making fists in the material as he curled up on himself.

He still wasn't awake when Dave returned, he didn't even appear to have moved from his position at all bar one arm now be over the top of the blankets instead of under it.

That's a great thing, because Dave decided to take the cheesy ironic way of doing things, and ended up taking a while longer, as he still bought a single violet.

He had a lot of sweet things with him, and coffee, that he made, having stopped at the coffee shop for that and the sweets.

He then took the liberty of crumpling the note and checking if he was up. When he saw he wasn't, Dave smiled and sat down on the edge of the bed.

He was just starting to rouse when Dave sat on the edge of the bed. He stirred slightly, fins flicking once as he curled up a bit in the blankets. He could smell something, coffee, and something else that he could quite identify and he squinted an eye open to look.

He leaned down to kiss his forehead, not saying anything, just petting his hair.

The pain resurfaced then and he winced, closing his eyes again and reaching blindly for Dave. "Hi." He croaked, eyes squeezed shut as he moved himself to rest with his head against his stomach.

He leaned back a little to let him do that, continuing to slowly stroke his hair. "Hey. Sorry I got up so early. Good morning."

"Wh' time is it?" He clutched at his shirt, eyes still closed even as he leaned into the hand on his head. "Where'd you go?"

"Nine-ish I think. I went to get us food." As he doesn't know how to cook for shit, and he wants to pamper Eridan. "And another thing too. Everything's in the kitchen."

"Don't you hawe work?" He stretched a bit, wincing again as it pulled at his sore points. He let out a groan, pushing himself to sit up. He ended up with his forehead against Dave's shoulder, not really moving more. "Gimme a minute to get up."

Dave shook his head. "Said I wouldn't go to stay here." He mutters, a bit amused by the morning awkward speech quirk.

He wraps an arm around him again, kissing his cheek. "We have time, I just came here to check if you were up."

He just grumbled at him, raising a hand to hold his other shoulder as he turned his head to squint up at him. "Dunno why." He moved himself away after a second, reaching immediately for the pain killers and taking two dry. He sat next to him, squinting a bit as he glanced up at him. "You said you got breakfast?"

"Doesnt matter why." He concludes, watching him as he reached for the pain killers. "Yeah, I can bring it here on a tray though. See, its just like any other morning." He smiled a little.

He huffed a laugh at him, "Nah I'll get up. Where'd I put my glasses?" He muttered the last part to himself, checking both bedside tables before grabbing them and putting them on his head. He made to stand, wincing a bit and stretching with a groan. The bruises had shown up on his skin now, one on his jaw, one around the end of the first two gill slits on his left side and a few across his back and chest.

He had noticed the one on his jaw, but he didn't think it looked too bad, just slightly swollen. He couldn't see the others because of the bandages though.

He got up as well, adjusting his jacket, and taking off his shoes again. "You're alright there, tall mermaid?"

"I am perfectly fine." He yawned, covering his mouth and moving to grab a jumper, merely so he could cover up the bandages and bruises that weren't covered by them. Those ones were mainly on his chest and he wanted them hidden before Dave could get a proper look. "What'd you get for breakfast?"

"I got croissants, brownies, a flask of jelly since you didn't have any, and some cookies. Plus the coffee and the surprise."

Dave went around the bed to peck his lips, walking backwards towards the door. "How are you feeling?"

"You spoil me." He grinned, kissing him back. "Why'd you get jelly though? What do I need jelly for? An' what surprise?" He tilted his head slightly, looking confused.

"I'm fine. Just a little sore." He was a lot sore, but he'll be a little sore by the time the painkillers start working.

"For the simple croissants. Brought chocolate ones and simple ones, as I don't like he chocolate croissants. Plus the jelly is made of grapes."

"And you'll just have to find out so guess." He smiled wider. "As soon as you walk into the kitchen I want you to close your eyes and wait for it."

With that, he moved to go back to the kitchen, getting the flower and hiding it behind his back as he waited.

He looked a bit suspicious, but shut his eyes once he was in the kitchen anyway. His fins were flicking around, trying to figure out what the surprise is by sound. He only heard Dave moving around and hoped that the surprise was not a pie to the face or something. "Dave what have you got?"

He blinked his eyes open, looking at Dave before looking down at his hands. He laughed softly, a smile curving up on his lips as he looked at the violet. He leaned close to kiss him, grinning a bit. "Thoroughly seduced there Mr Strider." His tone was teasing, but his smile just showed that he was happy with it.
