Presents? Really? Mmmmm. "You didn't have to." She spoke as she started to unwrap it.

"....I wanted to....I really liked what you made me for my birthday, so I, um....tried to....." Inside was a crudely painted portrait of her smiling at the viewer with no makeup on. He wasn't a particularly good artist, and it didn't exactly look lifelike, but somehow he'd managed to capture her expression in such a way that she glowed like the sun.

She smiled. "Thank you." She kissed him again. "Now you better hurry before you're late." It was adorable.

He smiled too. She liked it. "....you are welcome." He kissed her back. "I will see you later." He gave her a hug and hurried out the door, day brightened.

Once Zane was gone, Ren nervously emerged from the upstairs. At least this was one expectation they wouldn't necessarily have to live up to. She didn't like people making a big deal about her birthday anyway. They sat next to her on the couch quietly.
