I flew her back to the apartment with achy wings, and when I opened the apartment door, Sec was already awake, sitting on the couch with his hands shaking in his lap and staring at the door. He was visibly gaunt, as much as I'd tried to get him to eat, and there was a cotton bandage on his ear in place of his earring where he'd pulled and fiddled with it enough to make the hole bleed. The second he saw Ivory behind me, he cried out and leapt to his feet, almost falling over before he grabbed her and held her tightly, sobbing softly.

She wrapped her arms around him tightly, and buried her head into his shoulder. Mmmm...He smelt wonderful. Less talking...feed..../feed./ She bit down.
