I stared. They were retractable? That was....extremely disturbing. I wasn't sure I wanted to do that at all, much less 'too long'. Darling cleared his throat. "Was that all you came to do? Because while the shock value was great, it was kind of just confusing. You said something about visions?" I couldn't have put it better myself. Well, perhaps more politely, but not better, certainly.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. A different person now, no, I shouldn't /have/ to be a different person, I want to have always been myself, there shouldn't be any change. I wanted to hit him, but he didn't really deserve it, and that wouldn't solve anything. But this was too overwhelming, and too painful, existential crises usually are, and either I was going to hit something, burst into tears, or...

...I never would have reacted like this before. I used to be so collected, what happened to that? Everything happened. Terezi happened. Anndrea happened. Humanity happened. And now I was just a broken young man who truly fit in nowhere, and had found that his very being was redundant.
