She kept her hold on him. Holding him tightly. It's alright. She's right here.

.....why didn't he try harder? It really was his lot in life to be lonely, if that was how hard he tried for the people he cared about most in the world.... He started to cry silently, covering his eyes with his open palm. He wanted to meet his child.

She rubbed his back softly. It's alright. It's okay.

For a moment, he felt her small, soft hand on his back, stroking him gently. He could feel that. /He could feel it/. ...........then the sensation was gone. He froze.

He stopped moving. Did he wind down. "....You alright?" Probably a stupid question...but...

He didn't respond. Since he was still holding Ivory, Seculus moved behind him and turned the key. He straightened up just a little and mumbled "....I'm...fine...."

Seculus took her hand again. "...we should get back to the castle, or at least the garden, before he wakes up."

He began walking towards the edge of the trees. Madison walked silently behind them, creaking and wordless. His eyes fixed on the ground.

Beep. Beep. Beep. The sound of heart monitors rang behind her. A man who had just suffered a heart attack laid in his hospital bed, still asleep from the anesthetic. A woman, with brightly colored teal hair tied back in a bun, was just filling out some paperwork when the man blinked awake, and smile at the woman before him.
"Congratulations, Mr.Johnson. The open heart surgery was a success. Just watch your diet and you should be fine."
"And the uh...'other' surgery?"
"Went just as well."
"Wonderful, thank you nurse."
With a smile, she exited the room, and clutched a small, glowing brightly blue vial necklace under her scrubs. Yes. The surgery went /just/ fine. Her tennis shoes squeaked slightly against the just cleaned hospital floor when she turned to stop at the nurse's station. "Make sure this gets to Dr.Launderdale." she spoke in a hushed tone as she handed the file to a nurse. The woman looked slightly suprised as she took the file. "Mysteria, your shift ended an hour ago. Go home! Get some rest. It's late. Don't you have a life."
Mysteria giggled. "I was just about to clock out, and my friend's schedule always matches mine, so I'm in no rush. See you later, Dana."
With that, Mysteria clocked out, moved to the changing room, changed out of her scrubs, and exited the hospital. She dashed across the parking lock, and pressed the button on her keypad to unlock her 2009 White Honda Civic. Once inside it, she pulled out oh Iphone, found her best friends number, and called it while she started her car.

Edmund Miff whistled and spun the keys to his apartment on his finger on the way back from a decidedly 'successful' job. That woman's refrigerator would never run again, but it now received cable television signals and had a built-in defibrillator in case her brother's pacemaker went out! She'd seemed happy with it. His phone went off, loudly playing "Never Gonna Give You Up", and he pulled it out of his jumpsuit pocket.
Being an independent contractor, he had the right to choose his own uniform, and he'd selected, then custom ordered, a pastel yellow jumpsuit hemmed with purple, with black pockets and matching boots and gloves of both colors. The gloves stuck out of his other pocket right now, it was simply /impossible/ to spin keys properly on a gloved hand.
Sometimes he wore a purple sweater over it, just because, and most of the time he wore a black gas mask with lenses of the same bright yellow shade and a purple filter. Why? Well, aside from it looking /amazing/ and keeping his physics-defyingly spiky pink hair out of his face, it covered up his....condition. Not much embarrassed him, he stood out on a foggy night in that outfit for Christ's sake, but this did. And he didn't much like it being visible in public. Just taking the gloves off was a rarity. Except around Mysteria, of course. She said the whole get-up made him look like an Easter-themed supervillain, anyway. He was perfectly okay with that. Edmund held the phone to his ear. "'Ello, lovely! And your day was?"

"Full of sick people, as always." The hum of an engine was heard over the phone. She reached over and put her seat belt on. "Just got off work. Where the hell are you? My paycheck just came in so we can grab dinner together."
She put her car in gear, and reversed her car, checking to make sure she didn't hit her coworker's car. Then again, it was /Brittney's/. Hmmm, maybe she could ask Edmund 'work' on it later.

"You aren't calling me from your /car/ again, are you?? Come, we talked about this. Traffic lights are dangerous, if colorful, places. I'm on the way home, somewhere around...oh! Hold on, I'm going to buy some candy!" He ran into the M&M store. Yes. /Yesss/.
2016-01-17 07:59:14 -

"Possibly. Do I ever listien to you? By the way, your ex girlfriend Brittney started working here, I just saw her car." She turned out of the parking lot. "And get me some twix."

"This store doesn't sell that, sorry! She did? Odd, I don't recall her having a nursing doctorate. Or a car." That was part of why she'd broken up with him, she hated having him drive her everywhere in his equally blinding repair pick-up. He wasn't too upset about it. She kicked it once. Hurt the truck, you hurt his heart. That was in the shop right now, and by the shop he meant his garage, as he attempted to install an invisibility booster. The truck, not his heart. What would an invisibility booster even /do/ to a vital organ?

"Well apparently she has one down. And unfortunately it's still running." She stopped at a stoplight. "Speaking of which, I hit the jackpot today. This girl was about to have a baby, went into early labor. Lost a lot of blood. With a 'mysterious' blood transfusion with the girls' mom, I got a two in one deal."
2016-01-17 08:09:55 -

"A /baby's soul/?? I'd inquire further if that wasn't so off-putting, is that really okay?"

"The baby was too young for me to take, the mom to be was...maybe 17? Old enough, I guess. But the new grandmother was 'desperate to save her daugthers life'."

"Ahh, I see. So it was true love! And not a soulless baby. That's better. How do shiny mint M&Ms sound?"

"Pretzel one's are better. Though I've been getting a lot of pairs like that lately. Mostly because in those situations the man's a dead beat and tosses his pregnant girlfriend to the side. I get my desserts on those guys."
