Without making a sound, Ivory then pulled Madison into a tight hug. She remembered this. It wasn't good the first time, so she doubted it was even better the second time.

I squeezed my eyes shut, shaking against her and hugging her back. Let it be over. "Wow! That's really cool! And he's still alive?" "...whatever it is I did to make you do this, I'm /sorry/...please, please, please stop, jag ber dig...!" "Yes, the body moves too. And it screws right back on." They ignored him entirely. They ignored me. "................./please/......../stop/........" I pulled my hands back and covered my ears, but then his hopeless thoughts started, and I couldn't block /those/ out. "*I don't understand why this is happening. Can they not hear me? Do they just not /care/? It wouldn't exactly be a surprise. Even to people who by all rights should have nothing against me, I'm just a worthless piece of shit, I'm not even a person.....*"

She held him as tight as she could. Just let it be over now. This was unnecessary.

I could still hear his sobbing. They started talking about drilling a hole to find out if he was hollow. He began shouting as loud as he could, desperately hoping they'd hear him but knowing they wouldn't care. Finally Rayne seemed to take notice, there was some relief, just from being acknowledged, as he cried out that he wanted to die, that he was human, I could hear the defeat in his voice.....I was sobbing too. I couldn't help it. They put his head back on. He ran and hid to cry, terrified. They had a short conversation about his nose and a psychology project. Then they left. The memory faded. Finally. /Finally/.

It was gone. Good. But now? She had someone to take care of. Ivory didn't say anything, or even move. She just. Held him. It was alright. It was in the past.

Was it that bad in the moment? Or worse? It's....no, it's just as bad now as it was then. In fact, it's worse. Because I can't deny it now. I can't. I deserved that. Why would they listen to me? I'm an /object/.

Finally, she spoke. After moments of silence. "I'm sorry that that happened to you."

"......it doesn't matter......" My voice was breaking.

"It does."

"They're assholes is what they are. You deserve better."

"...........I don't deserve /anything/. Except......that." I wiped my eyes. I already reacted like this when it first happened. What right do I have to be upset a second time?

"No you don't. You deserve so much more."

"...I deserve to be hated. I deserve to be lonely. That's what...everyone expects." I stared into space, voice going dull. Even Ivory was convinced no one could ever love something like me.

"I don't expect that."

"You did. Of course I should've died. No one loved me. No one could /ever/ love me. It wasn't even a question."

"I didn't. And that's not true. I love you."

"You did. You...y......you don't love things." Even now. Even now, I couldn't believe her, as nice as it sounded. Especially now. How could she. It wasn't as if....

"/I didn't./ If I didn't love you, you'd be a block of ice right now."

She completely ignored his request and immediately wound him up again.
