The two purple bloods didn't really care about necessarily doing anything in the city right at that moment. Eridan wanted a place to feel a little safer; a secluded room at the inn where it would be only the four of them and maybe he could not worry so much about appearances. He really wanted to look around and check things out, but it would look strange if he did. And he certainly wasn't going anywhere alone. He stuck close to the other two lower bloods when Tavros went over, wondering if he should be trying to cover his ear fins and gills some. At Alice's hand gesture he nearly scoffed...but he could be chill if it was just Alice 'ordering' him around.
Gamzee was content to follow Tavros and watch him have some fun. This city was much more relaxed seeming than the on he was accustomed to, and he felt able to relax a little. He straightened up a little looking around aimlessly as they walked. This city looked a lot better, clean and less stuck up. His eyes drifted over other trolls too, taking in some different sort of fashions. Mostly he looked at how they displayed their food, and where the proper markets were located for later.
He saw Vriska eyeing the oliveblood suspiciously, and smiled a little. He'd been looking for signs of Tavros being stared at lewdly (like in the other city) himself, and smiled a little that she seemed to have taken a shine to the copperblood enough to be protective. Where she glared at him he just smiled a little crookedly showing some fang. His blood's reputation would proceed him and he could use the thought of it to his advantage at least. Nobody would suspect that they were matesprits, he thought, but would probably think him a bodyguard, and he was fine with that if it kept creepy people with bad intent away.

Tavros really didn't like to order his friends around like this, and he tried to be as sweet as he usually was, but it was difficult to maintain both his usual personality and the ideas of how a highblood was supposed to act simultaneously.
It was true, in a city mainly inhabited by midbloods of all colors, the city was relatively easygoing. People did not give them such openly blatant stares as they would in a mixed city, nor did they call derogatory names towards the colderbloods as they would in a warm-hued location. Tavros felt, mostly, rather relaxed and even Vriska seemed less tense, if only fractionally.
The walk down main street was, in Tavros's eyes, quite fun. The horses that trotted along with personal carriages and small ones for public use neighed and whinnied excitably, the people were all in, roughly, the same economic zone and tended to look alike. There were rarely any gigantic gaps in hierarchy, and Tavros felt that he could probably get used to a place like this. But it also made him worry - if midbloods were so accustomed to their way of life that was, as he had seen, relatively secluded from all else, if would be difficult to persuade one to join him in the oppression ruled by a select few.
The inn appeared soon enough, a four story building that was wide and bricked, the doors leading in a dark mahogany. Tavros, naturally, lead the way and opened one of the doors, a bell sounding above him as he smiled at the beautifully lit main hall. It had a chandelier that glistened from the sunlight, but a switch not too far off gave Tavros the impression that it may have also be able to turn on via electricity. In Alternia, electricity was a luxury for solely the rich; only the highbloods could reap the benefits of it, and only recently had warmerbloods been granted the use of indoor plumbing. Glad to be in a place that had safely found the median, the copperblood headed over to the front desk and began to find them a room. It seemed that there was not one that was large enough for four people, but they did have two rooms side by side that would house them all.
Vriska took to admiring the architecture, which seemed to mix elements of the rustic bluebloods but also taking in the elegance of warms. There weren't marble floors or enormous tapestries beside windows, (a staple of red-owned homes) but had, instead, sophisticated hardwood and paintings depicting landscapes and skies. What she thought was interesting was even the shape of the windows, which were long and arched at the top like many high-end hotels in the massive cities of yellow-and-ups, the delicateness of it matching the chandelier and the painting on the ceiling. Eager to get to their room on the second floor, Tavros turned to his companions with four keys in hand, two for each pair, and they held tags on the end stating which floor and room they were in. He smiled, then walked off to a hallway to the right that held the elevators.
Tavros, having never seen an elevator before, or even knowing what they were, looked to Gamzee and whispered, "What are these?"

Both the purples were enjoying the walk through the city, especially the part where they could look around and not be harangued. Eridan had been expecting the worst and Gamzee the usual, and the lack of either of these was extremely refreshing.
Eridan admired the wood work, there not being a lot under the waves made of wood, and the differing architecture. He was a little more savvy with electricity and things like that from Vriska's stories and recounted experiences, so he could connect a lot of what he saw with what was around.
Mostly he wandered the lobby with her while Tavros was getting their rooms, admiring some of the paintings. It was quite lavish and he liked it, wondering if their rooms would be just as fancy and how much all this cost. If the sea was nearby it wouldn't be a terrible place to live on land.
Unlike the other three, Gamzee was completely baffled by the place. He just kind of flowed with the group, not really paying attention as he drank in everything with wide eyes. He knew about plumbing; he was lucky his little hut had that, although no hot water so he was used to cold baths unless he went to the hot spring nearby to relax. He had no idea about electricity, though. He'd never stayed in the city at night to see much of any of it, and had always used candles. When it did get dark and they turned on the lights it was sure to give him quite the fright.
He stared at the contraption in front of him, even more baffled by it than the richness of the place. "I have no fuckin' idea," he answered Tavros. He poked the button that pointed up, though, willing to experiment and figure this out. The doors opened automatically and he nearly jumped out of his skin, looking inside for a person. "How the shit did that do that?" he muttered, not sure if he should trust getting in the thing.

Quite used to the idea of electricity and all the luxuries it provided, Vriska answered for the both of them. "It's an elevator," She explained, walking into the open doors, but keeping a foot between them to ensure that it wouldn't close on them, "It's basically a little room that goes up and down the floors so you don't have to keep using the stairs. Really, we don't need the elevator necessarily since those tags have such a huge two on them, but I'm sure it'll be an enthraaaaaaaalling experience nevertheless."
The idea of a little room was frightening, and Tavros would have preferred to take the stairs, but he wanted to know, at the same time, what an elevator was like. It couldn't be any worse than flying, could it? With a straightened back, he trotted into the elevator with Vriska, watching as she pressed another button inside the elevator, one that was beside the number 2. He looked absolutely amazed by it all, from the light peachy color that the button turned to the floral inside of the elevator. Perhaps it would not be so bad?
"Come on," She called, not trying to impress much of anyone at this point, since it seemed mostly everyone hadn't given them much of an issue for the trench in their hues, "The elevator won't stay like this forever, you know."

Eridan stepped in easily, and Gamzee edged in suspiciously not trusting the contraption at all. He stood close to Tavros, frowning at it. The glow of the button light was odd too. βHowβs it glowing like that?β he asked, baffled, wondering how they kept a tiny fire in there without melting anything. He thought it was kind of wondrous, actually, all this fancy stuff. βHow does the ...elevator? Go up and down?β heβd started to forget with everything to look at that he should really be less animated.
Some minor claustrophobia set in when the doors closed, and he clenched the railings he was leaning against tightly when it moved up a floor, bottom of his stomach dropping strangely and weightlessly. As soon as the doors had opened again Gamzee jumped out on to what he considered solid ground, not at all interested in being in the contraption ever again. He was more than okay with walking the stairs. Eridan giggled a little at the reaction. He hadnβt really liked the sinking feeling either, but the irony of someone people supposed was frightening freaking out about some little thing like an elevator trip up one floor was pretty amusing. In return he explained a little bit of what he knew about electricity to the taller purple, who was still a little suspicious, but supposed they wouldnβt use it if it wasnβt safe.

β
Naturally, Vriska hadn't much of a reaction, but Tavros curled his fingers against the bottom of his sweater, making soft whimpering noises against his lips. The trip up one floor was quick and hardly even a minute, but Tavros was just as eager to leave the elevator as Gamzee was.
"I am never taking an elevator again," He muttered, looking at all the keys in his hand before finding their rooms, off to the right: 2-12 and 2-13. Tavros, figuring that it was rather obvious how the splitting up would be done, handed the pair of 2-12 keys to Vriska so that she and Eridan could share their own space, then smiled over at Gamzee and opened up their 2-13 room.
He should have expected that the rooms be just as fancy as the lobby, but it almost seemed that they were getting much more than they deserved from just a couple gold coins. There was one large window, arched much like the lobby's, a heavy, wine-colored curtain situated on either side of it. The beds were immaculate, the bed frames an engraved brass with warm comforters and white fluffy pillows decorating the mattress. They hadn't an icebox, but they did have a radio situated on a desk to the far right, as well as two lamps and a small phone in order to request room service. He thought the inn to be more of a hotel than anything, -he wasn't sure what the real difference was- but it was refreshing to be in a space that was fancier than even his normal living in Alternia. Immediately, he gravitated to the window, pulling off his pack and settling it on his bed as he stared out the window with wide, excited eyes. "Wow..!"
In their own room, Vriska was similarly marveling at the space, glad to see that there was so much just given to them. She wasn't sure how much it cost, but it seemed that this was a moderate room filled with necessities. Even electricity, something that she wasn't too accustomed to but would love to have. Shedding her pack onto her bed, she stretched her arms over her head, then pulled off her hat and flipped her hair, "Who would have guessed that midblood territory was so accommodating?"

"No kidding," Eridan replied as he checked everything out, looking at all the devices and browsing around the windows and touching the curtains and bedding fabrics lightly. It was really rich from what they were used to, very nice. He was surprised they were given such space, but glad for it. He went to inspect the bath room, and happily found a rather large tub. He planned to have a good soak later on to relax. Returning to the main area he flopped on one of the beds, spreading out and enjoying the quiet away from all the people.
Gamzee was similarly exploring, after setting his bag next to the other bed. He looked at all the furnishings with interest, inspecting the 'electric' lamps closely, trying to figure out how it worked. He flicked one on experimentally, surprised and quickly turning it off. The phone was pretty weird too, and he poked at it a little, but left it alone. All this new stuff was a little overwhelming.
"We stayin' in a while, Tav? Should I take my paint off?" he asked, heading in to look at the large immaculate space. Even the bathroom was confusing. Why were there two taps here? "This place is way fancy, Tavbro. They've got two water taps on this here sink..." he tested them out, both spraying water before he turned them off. "They both turn the water on, why's there need to be two? Makin' it look nice?" he grinned around the door at Tavros.

"It...really is not too horrible here," She said after a bit of contemplation, "I mean, it sure as hell is better than the Screechlands that we had been designated. Honestly, no one is out there keeping tabs on our rule, so to speak. If the ocean is nearby, do you think...?" Vriska ran her hands through her hair before fashioning it into a side braid that she eventually tied off with a feathered hair-tie, "Do you think we could actually live out here? Nobody seems to mind a couple purples and a blue. I may even venture to say that we could walk around town /unattended./"
Following after him into the bathroom, he marveled at the creamy tile and the silver surrounding the round mirror and the water taps. "One is for hot water, and the other is for cold," He explained, figuring that perhaps Alternia was a little more advanced in that regard, but he still didn't have electricity in his daily life in his old home, so even seeing the lightbulbs and wires were amazing to him. "Gosh, even a bath tub!" He had some kind of awkward overhead spicket in his own home, just a tiny enclosed space with tile for showering, nothing like this. "Gamzee, look how pretty it is. They even give you your own, soap!" Located on the shelves beside the bath tub were two sets of shampoo and soap, "This is amazing, truly! I cannot wait to take a bath. I think I will get a new dress, uh, first, and then pick up some nice things for Eridan and Vriska. Perhaps even a gift for whoever it is that we are supposed to meet here." He stood beside Gamzee, laying his head against his shoulder and purring affectionately, "That sounds like fun, yeah?"

The sea dweller thought about what his kismesis had said for a moment. "It certainly would be nice. I don't think I'd mind living here so long as I could get to the sea when I wanted. I...do kind of want to wander, just see things....you wanna try absconding for a while?" he asked, slightly mischievous. "I'm sure Gamzee can take care of Alice while you're away; I think he noticed you getting protective, by the way," he smirked. He hadn't just been paying attention to the architecture. He could read Vriska pretty well, so had been using her as an indicator of how worried he should be when they were out and about, but had also caught other things in her expression and actions.
"Hot water? They got hot water to all up and come out of the sink? How do they do this stuff all without fire? This place is fulla magic or something." He noticed the shower head above the bath next. "Does water come out of that, too? Like rainin' on ya? That's fuckin useful shit!" Besides for the toilet and the sink, his bathroom was rather sparse at home. The only other appliance with running water was the kitchen sink. If he wanted a bath inside at home he filled the tub from the well, as when the house had first been built they couldn't get the water pressure high enough with what was available to get the tub to fill in a timely manner. It didn't run hot anyway, so they figured there wasn't much point and had scrapped the idea. However, rather than be a bit disappointed by what he was missing out on, Gamzee was filled with wonder at all this convenience, not bothered at all by any 'lack' of such things. He was comfortable with how he lived and where, and wouldn't trade it for much of anything.
Gamzee put an arm around Tavros's waist when he leaned on him. "Mighty generous all this stuff.... yea that does sound like fun. Though, maybe if you're gettin' yourself your own dress, might make it a bit longer if you like that better," he chuckled a little, "Hatter's been givin' the stink eye to anybody with their peepers at you. Don't blame her, of course, kinda been doin' the same but smiley. Whatever you're comfortable with, though, darlin'," he smiled. The pet name surprised him a little when he said it but he just went with the flow.

Taking hold of her hat once more, she pulled it onto her head and directed her best glare to Eridan, one that wasn't founded on much of anything save for trying to salvage what little of her reputation she had left. "I'm not /protective./ It's just that somebody around here should just make sure that the ruffles of Alice's skirt aren't getting traced by an ungentlemanly sort. It wouldn't do any good if Gamzee started ruffling his feathers about, even in a midblooded community. Anyway," She was eager to move on from one thing to the next, already pocketing one of the keys given to her by Tavros, "I say we start exploring. It's good to have some down time."
"Longer?" He questioned, peering down at his own dress to gauge just how long this one was. It flit at the barest minimum to cover his backside, it seemed, and his stockings went up to his thigh but he could see why there would be cause for alarm when it came to the outfit provided for him. Tavros found it hard to find dresses that fit him accordingly due to his short stature, so he figured he would have to start trying on things and getting a real feel for it. "Really? Hatter was?" He couldn't imagine why - it wasn't like he was doing anything particularly nice to her or to warrant such a response. "How sweet of her. But, um, if it really is such an issue, I can get a longer one!"
With a playful grin, he pressed a kiss to Gamzee's neck, purring, "I would not mind if you got a little, aggressive behind the scenes about it, Gamzee."

Gamzee grinned a little, tilting an eyebrow. "Really? Want me to start growlin' a little?" he did gently as example, turning it into a purr at the end as he leaned against the sink, half sitting on the edge of the counter top so he could face his counterpart better. He laced his fingers together at the small of Tavros's back, encircling him loosely with his arms. "Suppose I might be able to accommodate that." Delicately he pressed his unpainted lips to Tavros's for a moment, trying not to get anything on his face from other areas.
"He was actually a little more subtle than you!" Eridan commented, enjoying this teasing. "Though then again he's got a reputation he can use pretty easily to scare people off." He bounced up to his feet, taking the other key and running fingers through his hair to make sure it looked nice. "Not that you're not terrifying my dear Hattie," his smile showed off his sharkish teeth. "But yes, let's skedaddle a while and adventure. Promise to protect me from any bandits we might run into, Captain?" He felt strangely playful.

β
Now this was the playful interaction that she was used to - it seemed that all problems eventually worked themselves out, something Vriska was thankful for. Even if she prided herself in being a fearless she-warrior, it wasn't like she was good at confronting her kismesis when things went awry. "Those bandits will be seeing staaaaaaaars when I'm done with 'em, dear." She promised, giving one last adjustment to her hat before stepping out the room.
"Sure," He agreed, smiling at the kiss to his lips as he eagerly returned, "It may do you some good to let out some pent up frustration, yes?" Tavros wouldn't describe himself as some kind of sexual deviant, but for once, he felt comfortable being a bit flirty with someone else. It wasn't like he had much experience outside of Gamzee, all the past's relationships being unstable matespritships that either ended abruptly or switched to equally horrible kismesistudes that fell out almost instantaneously. Raising his arms to circle Gamzee's neck, he kissed him again, taking heed to the paint but, inevitably, getting some on his cheek, "Agh, I guess we should leave this, uh, fooling around until after all our errands have been completed."

"Ooh, my hero," Eridan laughed as he followed her out, shutting and locking the door behind them. He was quite excited to go exploring, and interested to explore the place they might decide to call home in the future. If it ended up being a pretty chilled out place, he might consider bringing some sea dweller friends to visit and see the sights.
He was a little confused, not thinking he wanted to let out aggression on random strangers. He thought about it for a minute, going over Tavros's words, and then laughed a little at himself. "Oh, you meant that kind of aggression. Shit, I'm terrible at this flirting thing...." he blushed heavily as the intent of Tavros's words hit him. He had no idea what he was doing in that area at all, at least not experientially, and hoped his matesprit did...he didn't want to look like a total fool but was more concerned about potentially doing something wrong. He decided to put it from his mind and just go with whatever Tavros did, learning on the way. "I suppose so, unless you want me to take this stuff off then put it on again," he shrugged, cleaning off Tavros's cheek.

It didn't take long to get out into the city once more, the hustle and bustle clear with the afternoon, and Vriska took in a deep breath. "Where shall we head first?" She questioned, "There seems to be a lot of shops around in this general area. Shall we window-shop?"
It was pretty obvious that Gamzee hadn't known what he was talking about, not until later, and he couldn't suppress the happy rise of giggles leaving his mouth. "Awh, you are the cutest thing! I will try to be, uh, a little more blunt in my desires if that makes you feel any better." Giving a soft smile, he kissed Gamzee's lips before pulling back completely, hoping that being more obvious with what he wanted would make their entire relationship move more smoothly. "Anyway, I think it would be better if we just head out now, and when we come back you can take of all your paint for good. It'd be easier that way."

"Yes, I think so. Did you keep some of your money if you see something?" the Hare asked. He always had his and she could just pay him back...ha, he thought, Vriska'd /owe/ him. She probably wouldn't be pleased about that.
"Guess I just don't expect it. I'll get better at understandin' your meanin. 'Til then should probably be more blunt with me if ya want somethin though. I wouldn't want to disappoint," Gamzee smiled, kissing him back. He let him go as he pulled back, straightening up. He nodded at Tavros's reasoning. "Certainly be easier that way, and won't have to go through the trouble of slappin it on again 'til the mornin', I shouldn't think," he smiled.
He left the bathroom, going over to their bags and emptying one so they only brought the essential items. He'd carry that and whatever they bought, and Tavros could carry the money. He hitched the bag over his shoulder, sticking one of the two keys in his pocket just in case they needed the second one.

"Mmmn." She reached into her pocket, and felt a couple silvers, but it was still probably not going to be enough for what she liked; Vriska was known for expensive taste. "I have a few floating silvers in my trousers, just loose ones. Don't get your hopes up, I won't be asking /you/ for any money any time soon," She stuck her nose into the air indignantly, "I do wish I had my pouch, though. Alice has all the money I bothered to actually count for this trip."
As they headed out, Tavros wondered aloud, "Do you think we will receive any ill-will if we are affectionate?" People didn't seem to care that there were coldbloods around, but he could only wonder what they would think when it came to an indigoblood. It was like that particular caste had its own set of rules and regulations that they had to follow, and Tavros just wasn't sure that he knew all of them or was familiar enough with the specific codes to blend in with the natural public. "I mean, it seemed very much that other citizens did not care for blood color in any manner," He shrugged his uninjured shoulder as he walked down the stairs and to the front lobby before finally leaving the inn.

He smiled coyly. "You may not ask, but I am willing to loan if it is in my capacity to do so... Perhaps we will see him out to get his dress and you can get some of it from him at that time," the sea dweller shrugged. Until he saw something he liked he wasn't inclined to spend anything, so Vriska could probably get one thing she liked with what he had.
Gamzee mulled this over. "Don't rightly know, might depend in this place who we run into." In the other city there hadn't been any rules, just an assumption that no one would ever bother with an indigo so it wouldn't be an issue. With the only other he had ever seen, they had only mentioned that the troll being sentenced to death was guilty of hiding and being his blood color, and hadn't mentioned their matespritship to an olive blood at all. It hadn't exactly been subtle, she'd been screaming for them to stop the whole time, but it hadn't been mentioned. "I dunno if it's the wisest, but I don't mind if we are," he smiled.

Vriska huffed, "I suppose." Really, when she had handed over the money, it was more of a gift-type of arrangement than anything. While it wasn't, technically, a present of any kind, it felt like it was no matter how much she denied it. It felt like she was offering up something for Tavros to take and to make him happy, which it honestly seemed to. "We'll see. Look-" She pointed across the street from their wandering, "A weapons store. Wanna check it out?"
While Tavros wanted nothing more than to display his affection for the world to see, he gave it some thought as they walked out into the city and shook his head. "I think you are right - I will save any and all, uh, sweetness for private times." He peered up, reading the names of the streets so that he could find his way back to the inn before remembering what Vriska had said and straying into the centre of town, "Do you want anything, Gamzee? Maybe a new shirt or boots or something?"

Eridan giggled a little. "Kind of, dunno if we'll be allowed in. I might go postal after all," he smirked. "But I suppose I can't stop you from dragging me over." This was a nice time already, just being out in this not horrible city not being called names or threatened or anything. Also he felt much more like his old self, just fucking around with Vriska like normal. And he could take a nice bath later, soak so long a land dweller would get all pruny. He was looking forward to it.
"Sounds good to me, Tavbro," he replied to the determination for private affection. He followed along, paying attention to where they were going, too. He wanted to learn the place and maybe try shopping on his own and see the difference of his reception here. It might end up being another place to visit once their whole trip was done. He didn't answer right away, as he'd been zoning off a little. "Ah, I don't think I really need anything...unless you think I look too shabby? Probably shouldn't be under dressed if you wanna impress people." He really didn't mind either way, though his shirt might have been getting a little threadbare in places where it moved a lot.

"Dragging? I think not," She took a brief look from one side of the street to the other before crossing the cobblestones and listening to horses whinny someplace nearby, "Why, you would have sprinted off had you not more self control." Vriska pushed open the door, wood with windows, like many of the other shops, and felt a grin spread onto her lips. Every manner of weapons were held there, keenly divided in half from what needed ammunition and what did not. Naturally, she gravitated towards swords and the like, and the sole owner, an elderly teal, smiled with such politeness that Vriska felt compelled to say a surprisingly nice 'Hello.'
"Not shabby," He corrected gently, "Perhaps just comfortable? I just know that, uh, we will all have to put on airs a bit when it comes to the warmerbloods." Tavros knew that there was a certain criteria he would have to meet, aesthetically, in regards to a red territory. His blood would, already, grant him fairly easy access, but at the same time, he couldn't very well go about with a ripped dress and a matesprit that had a shirt that had seen better days. "A nice thicker shirt, uh, would go nicely with one of the cardigans you packed away. Perhaps a button-down as well? I am sure we will find you something that is suitable." He grinned up at him, "I want to be able to spoil you a little bit."

Her words were true and he followed her rather gleefully; keeping up his stuck up decorum, of course. The wood with windows designing was really growing on him, he decided as they passed inside, and he smiled at the selection. He smiled nicely at the owner, and followed Vriska for a bit before drifting towards the rifles. He liked the odder ones, and took close looks at the decorative work of the pieces. He especially liked the harpoon guns which he had a hard time not fawning over, but he kept his head. He prevented himself by touching by linking his hands behind his back, for his own safety and the potential comfort of the proprietor.
Gamzee shrugged a bit as he smiled widely. "You don't gotta spoil me none with stuff, Tavros. You spoil me enough by just bein' around..." Maybe they couldn't be directly affectionate, but that didn't mean he couldn't give his matesprit loving looks and be a terribly cheesy. "Whatever you think is best; you see me more than I see myself, after all," he grinned, "I think you know better what I might look good in. And if you think I'd all up and look nice like a humble gentletroll, what can I do? I leave myself in your capable hands." He grinned, bowing a little.
2014-08-03 04:07:28 -
β
As much as she tended to keep to herself, Vriska couldn't stop herself from grabbing one of the more decorative sabers mounted on a wall. Its sheath was what brought her to it, the slight curve of the weapon making her smile in delight, "Marchie, come look at this sword! It is amazing," It was heavier than her current blade of choice, but it was still a delight to behold, "Must be something from early war days, it's rather heavy."
Laughing some at his bowing, Tavros patted his shoulder and sneaked a kiss to his shoulder. "I will find something wonderful for you," He promised, listening to his boots click and clack against the cobblestone and become part of the hustling sound of the entire city. "I have never quite prided myself, uh, in being any such type inclined to fashion very much. But I think I will do a good job with you," He laughed again, "Or, at the very least, I will /try/ to do a good job with you."

Eridan chuckled a little as he walked over. He looked at it closely, eyeing the hilt and the blade. He drew it out a couple inches, looking closely at the blade and it's markings. "It's probably so heavy because it's ceremonial...not really meant for hacking through things, more for display and rank determination..." He liked to study warfare so new a bit about weapons, as he was showing off. "You're right though, it is quite old, definitely the early wars..."
Gamzee walked along beside him, joyous in the little attentions and chatting. "I think whatever you think looks good no one else will complain about.... You know what shape I am underneath my shirt anyways, you can work off of that." He was gauging Tavros's reaction to this, still a little concerned about his reaction those nights ago. He chuckled a little at his next thought. "Want me to see what I all up and think about the fancy dresses you pick out? Sure you'll look good in anything, but maybe just to make sure it's extra nice?" He gestured to a demure little clothes shop one ahead. Gamzee liked the minute details of things in the windows; subtle but slightly fancy.

"Agh, I have quite enough of these back at home," She mused. Vriska had garnered plenty of old war swords in her day, possibly four or five, and she wondered if she really wanted just another to collect. Surprisingly, Vriska had not many combative swords; most were just for celebration and were on mounts in her hive. Sheathing the sword once more, she placed it back on the wall and went to peer at other swords, but not without the old teal man interjecting, "You know, dear, the sharp swords are towards the back."
Vriska, still quite a bit unused to the kindness from strangers, thanked him with a partially flustered face before walking towards the back of the store, "Did you see anything that caught your eye, Marchie?"
"Ahh, okay, yeah!" Excitement flit in his voice, and Tavros skipped into the clothes shop. The shop had two floors, but only the bottom had anything for sale in it; Tavros assumed that the top floor was the housing of the owner. He peered around eagerly, wondering what dress he should try on first or if he really should try pants and a shirt. The shop was a lovely mix of a gentle green and gray with white accents, the spiraling staircase that led to the housing area a silver door with shoes decorating the sides of the stairs for customers. Every inch of the shop was devoted to a customer's use and satisfaction, the hardwood of the floors having been painted a darling green that was clearly waxed and shined. Tavros smiled widely, his eyes catching sight of another sky blue dress, a hum on his lips.

"Not that I feel particularly attached too. There are some nice harpoon guns but I'm quite alright without them." He smiled gently and nodded to the shopkeeper in quiet thanks as well. Even if the teal's kindness was really only directed at Vriska he was driven to make a good impression here and not be seen as some sea dwelling savage. It wasn't really his style to cower and kowtow to those who were supposed to be higher up than him on the totem pole, but for Alice's mission, which he could see possibly working now if the people surrounding them were so unbothered by their presence, he would make an effort to be gentlemanly and not so stuck up.
"Damn pretty place," Gamzee muttered at the decor. He followed Tavros around closely, more concerned with remaining unnoticed and under the radar than really picking out anything. Tavros seemed like he wanted to take control here, anyway, and he was fine with being dressed by his excitable little matesprit. He looked around a little, though, thinking what color might look best on Tavros when he saw him looking at the dress the same shade as the one he was already wearing. "Like that color, eh, Tav?" Gamzee smiled. "It suits you. Try it on if you like it." It was pretty cute, with subtle decoration like a lot of the pieces in here. The whole city had an aesthetic of understated elegance, so much more pleasing than the gaudy overdone parts of the warmer blooded cities. Gamzee liked the simplicity of it, and how there was always some discrete detail that wasn't immediately noticeable, making everything slightly like new whenever it was seen again.
