Lance peered at the cat. Uncertainty filled his face. "Where did you find that at?"

"It was wandering around our apartment building, I went from door to door and no one claimed ownership. Cale would not let me keep it at our place for more than thirty seconds while he was there, however, so..."

"Probably because animals hate vampires with a bloody passion." He pointed out.
2015-07-17 05:43:58 -

"...oops. That might explain it. He seems to be okay with me, though." The cat curled up in his arms and yawned, whiskers twitching.

"Because you haven't had your first feeding yet." He moved from behind the counter and knelled down, tutting to get the cat's attention.

It looked up at him and flattened its ears with nerves, but didn't move away. "So when I do, it will hate me too....?" His face fell at the concept.

He offered out his hand, showing the cat he meant no harm. "Yes, more than likely."

"....oh...." It accepted his hand by butting its head slightly against him.

A small smile spread across his face before petting the fuzzy animal. "Yes, I do suggest you enjoy it while you can."

And to think he'd always wanted a pet... "...he does not seem to hate you, though." It was purring, but he hugged it and it squeaked in protest.

He looked at Zane and paused for a moment. "...That is because well..."
"Sorry if I kept you waiting Zane!" Ivory called as she rushed down the stairs. She was about to go to his side, but then noticed the small cat, and took a few steps back.
Lance didn't need to give him the answer. He got it anyway.
Ivory was heading home from school, her hair soaked from the afternoon rainstorm. She was seventeen in this memory, and was tapping away on her cellphone, responding to a text from Lance.
"Hey Ivory, could you do me a favor?"
"Yes, what is it?"
"Get on skype when you get home. I need to show you something."
"Sure!"
She unlocked the front door to her house and stepped inside, slipping off her sandals as she did, knowing very well that it would rain of her way home. She dropped the hood of her jacket, and pulled her hair out of the back of it before heading to her room. Once inside, she tossed her school bag on the bed, and moved over to her laptop. She had barely signed on when Lance started to call her. Odd...he was never this quick about it, she put her headset on as she clicked the video button. Another odd thing was that he didn't turn his webcam on right away...what was...?
"Hey, What's up?" She asked, looking slightly confused.
She could hear him sigh from the other end. "...You know how I asked a couple weeks ago about your opinions on vampires, werewolves, demons and...angels...right?"
"Mhmm. Why?"
A deep inhale. "Just...don't say anything, but look. okay?"
She went quiet as he turned the webcam.
There he was, eyes shut, a face that looked full of fear but...that wasn't why he turned it on.
He turned his chair to the side, exposing to the camera that he was shirtless.
A pair of silvery white wings stuck out from his back, and it was obvious they were coming /from/ his back and not just stuck on.
"...Lance..." She froze for a second, unsure of what do say. Unsure of what to do. They were.../beautiful/. Completely. Beautiful. She just stared, hand over her mouth, eyes focused on him.
He opened his eyes and turned to face her, and gave out a breath of relief when she didn't looked frightened.
"I guess...explanations are in order?"
"...Yes. I think so."
"Well...I guess the lore is not...entirely true? I mean it somewhat is. You know the concept of how someone always has a devil and angel on their shoulder, and they're fighting for control?"
"Yes."
"That much is true. Just...it's not that easy. Some people can have their angels or devils die, or...in Cameron and our case...they can escape...and become well...human, in a sense."
"...Cameron is an angel too?"
"Well, no. He is the devil half. I'm...the angel half."
"...So that's why you never get along." She spoke mostly to herself.
"Mhmm. And well, angels and devils were once people who died before their time, and if they find out why they died...they find out who they are and well..." He gestured to his wings, which were beyond the camera's viewing space. "Angels get these. Devils get tails."
"And everyone has one?"
"Yes. Everyone."
Another memory. This time Ivory was eighteen, and was standing along the shore of the beach. Her slightly curled hair blew in the breeze, slowly taking out the curls that shown she was at an event not even two hours prior. She heard someone walking along the shore, and turned. Lance was standing there in a suit and tie, moving towards her. He stopped and put his hands up before she could move.
"Wait. Once second." He removed the suit jacket, vest, and shirt. "Don't want to ruin these."
He stretched out his back, and the wings came bursting through. Without another second to lose, Ivory ran into his embrace, holding him tightly, tears streaming down her face.
"It's you...it's really you...." She chocked out in her tears of joy.
His cold arms wrapped around him, returning her hug, his wings folding around her and encasing her in. "Yes...it is me..."
"I thought you wouldn't be able to make it."
"And miss my best friend's graduation? Please."
"...My parents did."
"You're parents fucking suck."
"Yeah... you tell me that a lot."
He paused for a moment. "...Are you afraid of heights, by any chance?"
She paused and looked at him. "No...why?"
"Hang on tight." He gripped her tighter before moving his wings. Before she knew it, they were in the air, then over the water. Soaring higher and higher. He stopped after a bit and let them hover. "Look to your right."
She did as he asked her. The city was in the distance. Just a small place of dazzling lights. It amazed her. Everything about this amazed her.
"...This is perfect. Can we do this everyday?"
"Do you still want to move in with me?"
"Yes. Yes I do."
He smiled. "I thought so."
Another time skip in the memories, this time she was in New York, struggling to adapt to her being a vampire. She sat on the couch, trying to read a book without ripping the pages. Then, she felt something in the back her mind. A tingle. An itch she couldn't scratch. That was her...sensing Lance? She looked to the door as it opened. Lance smiled the second her eyes met. "I see you're doing find sensing other vampires."
She nodded.
"Here, I got you something." He tossed her a bag.
She opened it. "...A binder?" She asked. "But I didn't-"
"You didn't need to." He stepped inside. "Remember how I said everyone has an angel and a devil?"
"Yes."
"Well...they can up in this place if they have a friendship with someone and they're close, right? Well, I met your angel and devil last night."
"...I still don't see how that is related."
"Normally, no one would, because whatever gender they identify as, is the gender of their angel and devil. If someone is transgender, like in my case, they with have the devil and angel of the opposite sex....however, you have a rare combination. One female devil, and one male angel. Making you against the binary of gender. Hence, why I got you that."
"...I see. Thank you. Really. I've always wanted one of these."

His expression grew puzzled, then extremely confused, and he didn't respond to either of them. What was this? Angels and devils on people's shoulders? Lance had /wings/? Against gender?? That Seculus person had wings too, he'd thought they were fake, but did that mean he was an angel too? That couldn't be right? But apparently it was? He had two little dead people living in his head?? What were they like? Had Lance met them? He could /fly/ with those things? A binder? Cameron?
He had too many questions and not nearly enough answers. As he stared into empty space, the ditch between his brows deepening all the while, the cat began to squirm at the sight of Ivory. His grip never loosened or shifted, and its claws left a few small scarlet cuts on his arms.

Lance noticed the blank stare and looked to Ivory. She gave him a nod in return. "I'll uh...take care of the cat and you two can be alone." He picked up the cat and slowly led it outside the front door so he could take it inside around the back.
Once the feline was gone, Ivory walked over and sat next to Zane.

Aw, there went the cat. He rubbed absently at his arms and looked over at her. "..../what/?"

"Hmmm?" She asked, looking at him.

"What was....what?"
2015-07-17 08:22:47 -

"I'm assuming you saw something then." She shifted to wear she was more kneeling than sitting. "I might be able to explain it."
2015-07-17 08:25:43 -
🌀
"...Lance has...wings? And...there are dead people in our heads?"
2015-07-17 08:26:48 -
●
"Yes. Two of them. To be clear." Well it was only a matter of time before he saw that one.
2015-07-17 08:27:47 -

One hand moved to his head, as if he was trying to touch the people that apparently lived there. "...that is...."
2015-07-17 08:30:42 -
●
"Overwhelming?"
2015-07-17 08:31:57 -
🌀
He nodded. Then he nodded off. Apparently it was a little /too/ overwhelming.

She watched as he passed out. Well, that wasn't normal for him. That means-
Oh.
/Great./

That hadn't exactly gone over well. His brain would have probably melted down if I'd let him go on overthinking it, so this was best. Don't think I didn't catch that sarcasm though. I won't hang around long, however, so she has no reason to complain. Take this as an opportunity to get out. Meet new people. I opened his eyes and sat up again, giving the scratches on his arms an annoyed look. Though if these flashbacks made him immune to pain, they might prove useful. Then I turned his gaze to her and provided a friendly smirk and a hand to shake. "I don't think this calls for much explaining. Madison."
2015-07-17 08:39:36 -

For a second she paused, then took the hand to shake. "No. It doesn't. I'm assuming you know who I am, but which half are you?"
