The knife had melted, and Seculus was simply shaking now, water puddled between his fingers. Ren was attempting to talk him out of trying anything else. They /really/ needed Ivory back. One more try. As they spoke to him, they stuck their hand back into the fog, not taking their eyes off him.

This time, a hand came out of the fog, and grabbed the edge of it. Ivory pulled herself up and out, almost colliding into Ren.

He stared at her. There was a thin, shallow cut on one side of his throat. Tears formed in his eyes and he stumbled to his wobbly feet, hugging her tighter than ever and crying.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I almost lost you...!" The fog mostly dissipated when he charged through it, though wisps still floated around him, oozing slightly, and a ball of the stuff remained behind where he'd been huddled. A formless purple light stayed close to it.
