Edmund handed him the seatbelt and he managed to fumble his way to automobile safety before hugging his knees again. The other man went around to the front and climbed in the passenger seat with a sigh. "Maybe we should just dump him where we found him. It's not like getting his eyes fixed would do much good." Jack tried not to cry again. Was he really /that/ hated? But he was so happy. Didn't people like happy people?

"And what? Let him wander into traffic and die? You wanted an assistant, you got one." She started her car, clicked her seatbelt, grabbed her phone, and started to call one of her coworkers while she headed towards the hospital.

"He broke my one rule, I can't let--oi, put that away, we're on the road here." He stared out the window, where everything was just a grayish smear as they passed buildings and other cars.

"It's your fault for leaving it out. And fuck off, I'm getting him in faster."

"I didn't leave it out. He went looking. I told him a million times not to mess with my things. He just /had/ to take something." "....I'm s-sorryyy......"

"Well it's too late now, no sh-" The coworker picked up and she began talking to them

Edmund frowned and glanced back at the increasingly depressed-looking lad. It was unnatural, given how he was always beaming like a loon. But of course, he couldn't imagine what it was like to not be able to see anything.

Eventually Mysteria pulled up to the hospital, where her coworker awaited outside. She hung up her phone, and parked.

He jumped out and reluctantly helped Jack out of the backseat, leading him by the arm over to the employee.

With assistance, the three of them helped Jack inside.

He blinked as they entered and he began catching glimpses of people in a sharper focus, wandering around glumly through the shapeless void. Were they ghosts too? He waved a little to one.

Every ghost he acknowledged made a face at his presence. Not of disgust but more of suprise. No one ever noticed ghosts. Ever. But one did flip him off.

He stared back at the ones who gave him odd looks, and his face fell at the ruder one. He hadn't even done anything to them.

He was led into a hospital room and placed on the bed.

He felt around to make sure there wasn't anything left on it, then huddled in the corner of the mattress anyway. Edmund wasn't technically allowed to follow Mysteria around, so he sat in the chair next to the bed and sighed.

Mysteria mostly stayed back and laid through her teeth about what happened. She didn't want the world to know about Edmund and her. What they really were. She made something about a "cooking oil" accident.

While this was going on, Sarandiel was frustrated at the all-new problem that required their immediate attention. Of course, /these/ two wouldn't know. But that didn't make it any more of an issue that they could just leave to blow up in someone's face. No one stopped them as they passed through the hospital hallways, nodding to a few ghosts, and entered the hospital room. Edmund stared at them. They crossed their arms and stared right back.

Mysteria stared as well.

Jack did not. Because he couldn't stare. He had no idea why everyone was so silent. "Jack." He jumped a little. "G-God?" "...I can't believe you. I'd ask when you're ever going to learn, but it looks like this is your lesson right here. You two, he shouldn't be here. Even if it is convenient."

Mysteria furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"

"He doesn't /exist/, legally or otherwise, and all sorts of questions are going to come up. Not to mention his physiology, which is part angel, and his mental state, which is fuck-all."

"...." Mysteria stared at Edmund. Just /what/ did he find?!
2016-02-10 04:11:34 -
🌀
He shrugged desperately. "You couldn't have possibly gone this long without noticing he doesn't have near the mental maturity someone who appears his 'age' should possess. Though I can see why he hasn't let on that he can read minds." "...I'm not a 'what'...."

"..." Oh shit. That means he read her thoughts she has when she's alone alone with her vaaaaaaaaaaaaa-nothing.

He turned a little red. "...I'm not going to comment on that. This part isn't as important. What matters is that any kind of checkup is going to reveal that something's wrong. There's a reason angels and devils know better than to visit hospitals."
