...she did? I wish she'd told me, but...that was good to know. I love her too. But I can't take..... "......dying isn't worth it. Think about crying in public but no one so much as looks your way....even if you think you're alone, someone would still ask if you were alright, that's human decency. But being /that/ alone....don't. It's no better."

"....that isn't possible."
Ren was chewing on a pen, waiting until they wouldn't be interrupting to go down and see what was going on. They jumped a little when their phone went off; it wasn't as if that happened often, they were living with one of the few people they ever texted and she could send them a thought from downstairs. Curiously, they answered. "Hello! Ren, right?" "....yeah?" "I heard Madi...son was feeling down. Can I talk to him?" It was as if a cheerful man was trying too hard to sound somber on the other end. They frowned a little in confusion. Maybe it was one of his coworkers. "...sure, I guess. Hold on."

"Yes it is, Madison. What about this do you not get???"

"...everything /hurts/ too much, there's no way it can hurt any more--" Ren came down the stairs quickly and held out the phone. "Uh, Madi? It's for you." I stared at it for a second. ...who would know that I'm here? I let go of Ivory to take it and hold it to my ear. "Don't say a word." Shit-- "Come back to Mysteria's apartment. Quick!" I dropped the phone on the couch and stood up as my red eyes went out of focus and ran for the door, feet guiding themselves.
He threw open the front door and his wings burst out of his back. He took off and I leapt to my feet. "MADISON, WHERE--"

...Who? What? Ivory picked up the phone and held it to her ear. "Talk."

There was just laughter from the other end before they hung up with a click. Seculus waited the split second needed for her to tell him who it was.

She immediately turned to Seculus. "It's Jack. Follow him."

....Jack? Oh no. He sprinted out the open door and jumped into the night sky.
Madison landed in front of Mysteria's front door and the door flew open. Jack dragged him inside, still laughing. He'd pulled Edmund over, he /had/ to see this. Edmund was sitting on the couch eating Mysteria's chips, but stopped and stared in midchomp when he saw who'd arrived. "...why is he here?" "I told him to!" "And he just listened?" "Hold on, look, you'll see." He tugged on Madison's wing, spreading it out, and pointed with his other hand at a small device clamped onto the skin at the joint. "It took your thingy, and I made it /better/." "My what? You're not supposed to touch those!" Edmund leapt to his feet and Jack held out a hand to tell him to pause. "He does anything you tell him to. Anything! Madi, choke yourself." Both hands went to his own throat and he began to squeeze, face going red. "Stop. Breathe. Jump up and down!" He followed the instructions silently and methodically, no expression entering his face. When he was done jumping, Jack wrapped his arms around his neck and giggled. "You're /my/ puppet now~" "Wait. I couldn't get that to work. How did you--" "I fiddled with it! I'm not stupid, I know you think I am. I can figure these things out." "...give it to me." "What? Why! It works great where it is!" "I don't want God to get on my blooming ass about this, take it off so I can see what you did!" Jack glared at him. "/No/. Madi. Get him. And have fun doing it!" Madison took a step towards Edmund, hand outstretched, and an involuntary smile coming across his face. Then came another, similar voice from the open door. "Madison, stop." Seculus tucked his wings in and stepped inside, giving Jack a look that clearly displayed how much he wanted to throw him into the street. "What did you do to him?!" "I made him more fun!" "Fix. Him. /Now/. Oh, Madison, breathe." He gasped for breath as the two skinny men stared each other down. The conversation was silent as they read each other's minds, one much more threatening than the other. Finally Jack stepped down, and, scowling, reached for the device shaped like a compass rose on Madison's wings, brushing the feathers away to reach it. He put his fingernail under one part of it and pulled it off. There was a small snapping sound and he jittered as a current of electricity went through him from the panel that had come exposed. Madison stumbled from his locked position and Seculus moved forward to support him. "...Madison, say ah." "No." ".....thank /God/. Jack, never come near any of us again, or I'll come through on everything I told you." "Eat my dick!" "GET OUT OR I'M GETTING MY ICE RAY!" Seculus glanced over at Edmund, rolled his eyes, and left, a hand on Madison's shoulder until they both took off from the top of the staircase, Madison flying wobbily.
They left. Jack felt weird. Everything looked kind of fuzzy, like it had when Seculus was drunk. But he definitely wasn't drunk. It got worse. Was he going to faint? No, he didn't feel tired....his eyes darted around, catching glimpses of a pink blob, something orange that might've been the setting sun outside. But every outline and even the largest details were indistinguishable from each other. "....Eddy? I can't see. I can't--"

Were Seculus and Madison once were stood a figure. Eyes blue as sapphires.Hair a medium brown color. Clear as day. Though it seemed no one else really paid any notice to him.

He blinked at the one clear thing in the room. He looked familiar.... "What? Are you sure your hair isn't just in your eyes again?" "...uh....." He nervously took a step towards him, almost tripping over a basket of towels. Then waved a hand in his direction.

The man stared, then blinked upon realizing someone noticed him. "Well it's about damn time." He grabbed the nearby umbrella and threw it at Jack.
Suddenly, an umbrella went flying across the room. By itself. No aid to it.

"AHHH!" He dove out of the way of the UFO, unidentified only by his current visionary standards, and smacked his head into the couch. "Owww, what are you doing stop it!" Edmund stared. He'd learned better than to question this sort of thing, but it was still the weirdest occurrence to have happened all day.

"...why can I see you? Why can't I see anything else?" Edmund carefully picked up the fallen contraption. There were two wires crossed under the open panel that hadn't been in his design, and had no reason to be in whatever Jack's was. And, of course, it was one of /his/ inventions. It was bound to end up doing something it shouldn't if tampered with. "This is why I told you not to touch my things! Who are you /talking/ to??" "...a.....a ghost?"
